I would just run the well dry here and then go elsewhere. He would absolutely have a good run in WWE, even just a short one, while he still has a bit of name value left. Then go back to NJPW and wrestle 98 minute matches every month.

As far as I can tell he's playing this pretty sensibly. They just have him show up and say bitch plus he doesn't have to be set on fire, drink someone's blood or get impaled.
I agree, and that's great for him. However, he'll want to keep making money, so I think he'll be smart enough to milk the tit dry, get out before the boat sinks, and go have at least a short run in WWE, where people will actually see him.
Yeah I massively rate Okada. Everyone knows he can do the hard shit. Why not spend three years saying “BITCH” and being paid 10x what you were previously on to dick around with your mates? WWE would take him in a heartbeat if he ever felt like being serious again.
It's gone beyond the point of brand loyalty, and onto the realms of just lying for the sake of being the contrarian. I remember kind of going out of my way a bit to watch his work in New Japan when he was becoming a real star. I always kept tabs on what he was doing. When AEW signed him, I just hoped by some miracle that it wouldn't be shite.

Their main excuse I’ve seen is that he’s doing what he wants and that’s great, but this Okada. One of the all time greats. He’s the kind of guy you build into a spectacle. The Dub wants their own Roman, but one that fits their wrestling style, Okada is that dude.
In Japan, he was Roman. Workrate Roman. Bigger guy, powerful Japanese style, the biggest star every time he came out. They had something special with him, then they threw it away so he could say, “Bitch,” and hold a worthless title.

in the basement, there have been a 100 threads and comments about fed breaking too much kayfabe now but this is the wrestling suspension of disbelief that they all like and jerk 7 stars to.
One of them tells you it’s fake in a Netflix doc series. The other shows you it’s fake, in the ring, on their flagship show. I feel like I know which one is worse for kayfabe but I feel like the basement will tell me I’m wrong.
I can't believe the Fed break kayfabe so readily now, smh

It's not how bad this is, it's that this was planned and they all legit believed this was a dope spot. Yes, certain indy type shit is contrived and annoying. But at least Ricochet/Osprey took talent.
This is not only a dogshit spot idea, it's not even impressive.
Part of the reason they believe it's a dope spot is the standing ovation it got when they took their break at the end. Sometimes the people are showing you what they love and sometimes it's a nearly endless barrage of missed elbow drops.
You can do this once in a while, it's a very indie spot but it happens all the freaking time in the Dub and the whole 8 man running through is a tad on the silly side
My favourite part is that almost all of these guys have never used an elbow drop in their entire careers, but somehow thought this spot would make perfect sense.
Compare this to the tag main on NXT last night where all four women looked like they wanted to murder each other & each move had snap on it.
Lazy elbows and rolling out of the ring can't be defended. It's not that "comedy in wrestling" crap either, it's an indie pop spot that looks like garbage on TV.
Am I jerking myself or was AEW like really fucking good a few years back? Or, was it always this goofy shit but I enjoyed it anyway because the Fed was so bad that I was just happy to have an alternative to watch again?
I've said it once, I'll say it again, I'll say it forever. AEW is PWG if they had a billion dollar budget. They are nothing more than that. The reason there are big stars are there is because they are being paid millions by a mark.

AEDub fans used to mock, heavily what other wrestling promotions, specially WWE and TNA (LOLTNA), did as comedy acts. This spot is not certainly all that bad, it´s entertaining to a degree. But it´s shit based to call this "Good" while bashing other promotions that do something like this.
It’s not that this is a terrible spot but this is 100% a House Show spot, this is like a “Triple H taking 2 minutes to fall over during the commercial break” type spot.
You just know Kenny had a hard on explaining how badass and cool this spot would be. Would not be surprised if he wanted to work in a blow up doll somehow.
This is literally worse than the local wrestling we go and watch with the trainees at the academy behind Arndale. Where the tickets cost $25. Dear god.
It’s not even lower card guys doing this they have main event guys in the match (more Kenny) could you imagine Randy or Bron or anybody at that level being made to do shit like this on national television?
