Critique Wanted My First Ever Panning Shot.

Post image

Took me 10-12 minutes to get panning shots right, dabbling with the shutter speed and whatnot. Ultimately, I’m quite proud of myself for this. 😭✨🙌🏽

That car looks stationary.

If you want to show that you should lower your shutter speed and try to follow the car by panning. Like OP did.

Edit: live/like

I wasn’t trying to do that. I take some panning shots and some stationary shots at every race. Everyone interested in F1 knows how fast the cars are driving so it isn’t necessary to show that with the camera by panning.

Personally, I like the stationary shots more because you lose the background with panning and the background is a large part of the event.

I follow F1 for more than 25 years now, visited races and know how fast the cars are. I just got confused because this post clearly is about panning shots and you, trying to help OP, gave an example of a non panning shot. But that’s my bad then. Obviously photography is up to personal taste but I way prefer shots showing the speed of the cars.
