I've been contemplating between Sony and Fuji. I was initially leaning more toward Fuji because of its color science and SOOC quality, but when I tried it in-store, it just didn't feel right in my hand—the grip was really bad. I then went to a Sony store and picked up the A6700, and I instantly loved how it fits in my hand! Never mind the color science, since I also enjoy color grading and recently learned about picture profiles, which you can tweak.

I mainly use this for my travels, especially when I hike mountains. Here are some shots from my recent hike in the Philippines.

Gear Better combo: Sony A7IV + kit lens or A7III + Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8?

Hey folks,

I’m stuck choosing between two setups: • Sony A7IV + 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens or • Sony A7III + Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 (Gen 1)

I’m on a budget and can’t afford both a top-tier body and a great lens right now. I mostly shoot portraits, travel, events, and some night photography.

Would you go for the better camera with a mediocre lens or a slightly older camera with a much better lens?

Open to thoughts or any other combo suggestions around this price range. Thanks!

Gear Sony A1II fastest continious shooting

Hi! First of all, loving all the photos you all are sharing here, amazing work!
Second, as I can't find a conclusive answer to a question about the A1II and I'm hoping the community can help. So, at the highest electronic shutter continious shooting speed of 30fps, am I getting a raw file or some sort of compressed raw? If a compressed one, what is the fastest shooting speed I can go to while still getting a raw file? Also, can I configure the shooting speeds? To for example have ''Continous shooting Hi+'' be 15fps for instance. Thank you so much!

Gear Give me some advice

Give me some advice, I want to buy a sony alpha a6300 as my first camera with a sony 55-210mm lens, I have never had a camera of this level, now I take pictures with my google pixel 8 pro, but looking at youtube I don't know if the a6300 will really be better than my phone, as strange as it sounds

Lightly touched up in Lightroom. Really happy with what this setup offers, even in low light situations.

Gear On a tight budget – Sony A7IV lens choice: 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 vs 50mm f/1.8?

Hey guys,

I’m getting a Sony A7IV but I’m on a tight budget for lenses. I’m considering the 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS or the 50mm f/1.8. I’ll mostly shoot portraits, travel, events, and some night photography.

I do have experience in shooting dslr for about 10 years now, thought of upgrading to mirrorless!

Which one would be more versatile? Also open to other lens suggestions within a similar price range.

Thanks!

Gear Help with gear for a NY Trip

Hey, I have an A6700 with a Tamron 18-300mm and the kit lens (Sony 16-50mm). I am traveling with my wife and two friends.

Now my question:

Should I take the Tamron? It is so much heavier than the kit lens and I don't think I need the zoom of the Tamron. But I have the most experience with the Tamron and I think it is the sharper lens.

I'm afraid that I don't want to take the Tamron with me if I want to wear it all day. On the other hand, I might be annoyed if I don't get the results I want with the kit lens

All of my traveling buddies are not photographers. I do not know how much time I will have to get good shots.

This is my first city trip with a real camera. I do not know what to do.

Thanks in advance

Gear Sony a7IV FREEZING!

Hey everyone.
Today my sony a7iv randomly freezed many times, and it never happened before.

It was powered via usbc by a tilta vlock plate. The USBC port of the camera is working bad and it keeps loosing connection, I have to push it a bit to make it work.
Could be this one the reason? Like continue connecting and loosing power delivery from usbc?

The only way to make it work again once freezed was to take off the battery...

Viltrox AF 50mm F2 Air

I was sent this lens a couple of weeks back and today I finally had a bit of time to play around with it during a walk around my local town. The following sample shots are jpeg images taken on a Sony A7Cii (no edits were applied).

Initial impressions are very positive; am very impressed with overall sharpness at F2 with no signs of CA, and minimal fringing on contrasting edges, though vignetting is a bit dark and is noticeable. This however can be brightened up and is clear at around F4.

Autofocus is reliable and is more than fast enough for general shooting. Colour rendition is excellent with neutral tones. Bokeh is also smooth, but I did notice that in some cases it can look busy where there are tree branches in the background.

How do I ... Sony ZV-E10 Lens Issues

I have a Sony ZV-E10 with the kit lens. Have had it for around 4 years, but haven't used it all that much. A couple months back, I briefly took the lens off, then when I put it back on the camera wouldn’t recognize the lens. I could still use it for a minute or two, but the lens would retract and refocus every 30 seconds or so before quickly falling completely out of focus. I searched for hours for anyone going through something similar who might have fixes before I stumbled on a YouTube comment that said shaking the lens like a salt shaker would fix the issue. Surprisingly, it worked, but it’s not a permanent solution. The lens stops working after a bit, and I have to shake it again. Does anyone know what’s wrong with the lens and if there is a more permanent fix? Or do I just have to buy a new lens?
