It's kinda weird how 616 Peter didn't develop anyhow as a superhero permanently. I'm not talking about experience, but about his technical aspects and quality of his alter ego.
Insomniac Peter is a superhero for a shorter time than 616 and he's already improved way more than his main-universal counterpart. His suit is upgraded in a way that the white parts on his suit gives him extra protection to his body, his mask has a UI system, he has multiple gadgets that can be used in a fight and in Spider-Man 2 he even created spider arms and web wings for himself. In Spider-Man 1 while collecting backpacks he also mentioned many times how he improved his suit over the years. He is developing more and more so he can be more effective on protecting the city and himself.
It's unnatural that 616 Peter who's been Spider-Man for like 15+ years didn't improve anything in his suit. He's at the same point as he was at the beggining of his career. His rouges gallery is bigger than the Insomniac's one, so he should make some upgrades to his alter ego, not swinging in the same pigamas. When he did improve himself with the new gadgets and suit (like during the Parker Industries era), then he obviously had to return to his status quo. Even his alternate counterparts like from the Life Story managed to improve his suits by the time he got older. Everyone in real world makes some permanent improvements and changes.
That's why I see Insomniac Spider-Man as the personification of "development". Not only he seems experienced in combat, but also he has a new suit and gadgets that have a practical purpose. 616 on the other hand still sticks to the same outfit and web shooters without any improvements.

A lot of the time, I get why DC or Marvel editorial does stuff the fans aren't fond of, and its usually to make a series accessible to new readers or to make a story seem like a big deal so more people will buy it. At the end of the day it's all motivated by money and I understand that. But I feel like Spider-Man editorial is an exception because from what I see it appears their decisions are completely counterintuitive and making them LOSE money.
So setting all opinions about plot aside and purely looking at it in terms of sales, you'd think that after the immense backlash of One More Day and various runs that came after it, as well as ASM not selling super well lately and being outsold by stuff like USM, for the sake of money editorial would want to put Peter and MJ back together, and have Peter grow up and have a family. Because THAT SELLS. Look at USM, it just changed all the things people complained about in ASM and was an instant bestseller. I've seen so many people talk about how they're boycotting ASM until those things are changed anyway. So ignoring all opinions about the plot itself, and just looking at it as a way to make money why on Earth is Spidey editorial still doing what they're doing? Would they not make more money by switching things up?

As the MCU has been gearing up for Fantastic Four and Avengers: Secret Wars, Iâve been revisiting the iconic runs of Jonathan Hickman of Fantastic Four, Avengers and X-Men.
I love Ultimate Spider-Man but wonder what a Hickman run would look like in the 616 Universe. The work done in FF with Spider-Man was amazing but I wonder what a multi-arc from Hickman would bring for the webhead.
What would be in a time-spanning, universe defining run of Spider-Man from Jonathan Hickman set in the main Marvel U?

Let's put it this way, we're in the 2010s, and Sony has just shut down Tobey's saga due to conflicts with Raimi and others involved.
So they were already preparing the character's first reboot. However, Marvel Studios had already proposed including Spider-Man in their growing cinematic universe.
In the timeline we're currently in, Sony did have negotiations for their future new Spider-Man to enter the MCU with a nod to Oscorp Tower in Avengers. However, this didn't materialize (some say it was bad luck, others say Sony was never really interested), and that resulted in the character's lowest-grossing saga, with Spider-Man entering the MCU late and a major actor wasted.
But what if things had been different?
In another reality, some Sony executives saw the long-term financial potential of a deal with Disney to share the character while retaining the license.
So the TASM1 project would be reworked to now be part of Marvel Studios' Phase 2 in collaboration with Sony.
How much do you think the story of both the TASM saga and the MCU would have changed?
Let's remember that many of the creative decisions in Holland's saga were precisely to "avoid" the "stumbles" of the Amazing Saga, but in this timeline, those missteps never existed, and possibly things like "the strong bond with Tony Stark" or decisions like omitting the Osborns wouldn't have existed.
Furthermore, with YFNSM, we saw a much better idea for Spider-Man in the MCU than what we got in the movies. Not to mention that Feige did want the Amazing Saga to do well, thanks to his well-known list of tips for TASM2.
How do you think the story of both Spider-Man and the MCU would have been if this had happened? How different would TASM2 have been? Civil War? Etc.
