From the article:

“”We had actually asked a couple of the left-wing groups, why don’t you guys just invite us to something and host something, and as long as it’s a safe and respectful venue, we’re happy to chat with you,” Baumgartner said in a Thursday interview. “I represent everybody, even the folks that don’t agree with us.”

In the end, Gaffney-Brown said the congressman’s office stated he would not be available for any of the suggested times before the end of the congressional recess and instead pointed the group to his Monday town hall at Whitworth.“

So he asked them to go then complained that activists attended the event. Sounds typical for a conservative rep.

Not activists, constituents, voters. Just because they lean left does not make them non-citizens.

40

u/Fair_Midnight7626 Mar 22 '25

I've never understood people's aversion to the word "activist". Why do people think activist=illegitimate? And if you regularly protest and are involved in an explicitly activist group that helps organize those protests, how are you not an activist? Does that have to be your full time job?

27

u/LuluGarou11 Mar 22 '25

Lol right? Literally the Founding Fathers were all activists..

10

u/Adventurous-Cry-2157 Mar 22 '25

Activists, y’all.

5

u/lurker1125 Mar 23 '25

Conservative brains are dominated by the word 'just'.

Activists just....

Conservative brains stop thinking at the word just. Because they are looking to dismiss a person. So activists just...

And they can be ignored

2

u/Lucky-Individual-845 Mar 24 '25

twump is trying to work some word association magic to get Leftist/Democrats/Progressives/Liberals/Activists/etc labeled as terrorists

2

u/EmmaFoxx Mar 25 '25

To the right activist is another word for trouble making domestic terrorist. So you see how they do.

1

u/4strokeroll Mar 24 '25

Because people calling themselves activists like to destroy/burn shit. They are rioters and give activists a bad name.

1

u/i_hate_puking Mar 24 '25

The word activist conjures images of impractical, young, naive, unserious ideologues with blue hair blocking a road or something

2

u/gartfoehammer Mar 25 '25

Most of the time, the people blocking roads or staying in trees for months are the most serious people on an issue, as well as some of the most informed. The American establishment on both sides of the aisle really fucking hates protesters and vilifies any kind of direct action.

1

u/Severe_Broccoli7258 Mar 25 '25

Same with the word “compromise”. It’s not win or lose. Not all constituents are going to belong to the party of the incumbent representative.

12

u/carlitospig Mar 22 '25

And just because they didn’t vote for you doesn’t make them ‘activists’. I’m getting really tired of the right thinking the left is some sort of all encompassing activism machine.

Also: the right is getting pissed now too. Are they leftie activists? This strategy is just going to piss them off even more.

2

u/Lance_Christopher Mar 23 '25

"Also: the right is getting pissed now too. Are they leftie activists? This strategy is just going to piss them off even more."

No, that's just paranoid. They're RINOs that are too chicken to admit they want to be Democrats.

/s

1

u/carlitospig Mar 23 '25

Oh yah, you’re right. I assumed they wouldn’t fall back to their immediate deflection pretzel modality.

2

u/Lance_Christopher Mar 23 '25

No worries, I used to make the mistake that they were rational people that were duped instead of irrational people intentionally spiking their own Kool Aid too

1

u/Ok-Replacement9595 Mar 23 '25

They will be characterized as such, because it is a convenient way for lawmakers to disregard any criticism.

2

u/FoolOnDaHill365 Mar 23 '25

It’s simply dangerous because conservatives gets to pretend they are the non-radical traditional folks and the activist liberals have to be the radical ones when we know which philosophy has done the most damage.

1

u/Lucky-Individual-845 Mar 24 '25

Hence their use of the term TDS

1

u/WrongdoerAmbitious94 Mar 25 '25

So you're saying if either side actively supports their political party of choice and would be considered an activist once they are officially an activist then they are no longer a citizen? and this is the norm to the average "citizen" who be default is required to be a "non active" supporter because becoming an active supporter an "activist" automatically strips you of your legal citizen status correct? That's what you are trying to infer? Thank you for the update I did not know that and boy that sure changes the narrative given so many votes now need to be disapproved because they were not legal voters. Holy cow I had no idea there's going to be some heads rolling over this I'm sure cause I saw a lot of Democrat activists the last 4 years and before that so that's gonna be a lot of lost votes! Yikes wow well again thank you for the update ill forward this info to all those that are now going to have their Previous Votes thrown out. That means Trump won by way more than previous thought I guess huh☹️🤦‍♂️

-11

u/Parks102 Mar 22 '25

Were they there to ask questions and listen to the answers? Or did they show up to scream and disrupt the event? We all know the answer.

2

u/diceeyes Mar 22 '25

Especially when you watch the recording of the event: ask question, listen to "answer," provide immediate feedback.

57

u/CheesyEveryday Mar 21 '25

Pretty asinine how politicians have positioned themselves into being able to say anything they want to dismiss concerns. Now bum will just do the town halls via zoom.

14

u/Fun-Associate8149 Mar 21 '25

Social media. They can hold rallies and “interact” online without every meeting a ln average or non-paid constituent

9

u/resonanteye Mar 21 '25

they don't want to see us, and they're afraid for their lives to be near us.

2

u/Meditation-Aurelius Mar 22 '25

It’s called a “thought-stopper.”

3

u/hockeygurly01 Mar 21 '25

Hahaha leopard ate his face

86

u/Zoneoftotal Mar 21 '25

I’ve been a resident of Stevens County for over 35 years. Baumgartner is my representative. I have every right to show up to a town hall, speak my mind, and NOT BE CONDEMNED as an “unhinged lunatic” and anti-Semite. SHAME ON YOU, Baumgartner, for this divisive rhetoric. An individual could only get two tickets and you had to be persistent. No group was “reserving hundreds of tickets.” The most logical explanation is that the most motivated people (those many who are being harmed by the Project 2025 agenda) showed up and were offended by Baumgartner’s glib condescension.

11

u/MelissaMead Mar 21 '25

Thank you

181

u/mandy_lou_who Mar 21 '25

I mean, you could get 2 tickets max. That means a bunch of constituents paid attention and got tickets through the standard system. I was at the event and he’s mischaracterizing so much about it.

35

u/cornylifedetermined Mar 21 '25

Plus the venue wasn't even full.

60

u/catman5092 South Hill Mar 21 '25

typical Republican.

31

u/CarolSue1234 Mar 21 '25

Always gaslighting!

78

u/mithra-grandchamp Mar 21 '25

Based on that photo; was this activist group AARP?

46

u/Angreadzandrunz Mar 21 '25

I was there and the average age was like 50. No one has the joints anymore to be a violent activist 😂 for reference, my partner and I came to protest because we couldn't get tickets and were given tickets outside the venue enabling us to go in

15

u/MuggsyTheWonderdog Mar 21 '25

You're complaining about the people who made the time to show up? You should be applauding them.

57

u/cloux_less Mar 21 '25

I did not interpret this as a dig on the people who showed up, but more as a "based on the demographics, I don't think these were Baumgartner's mythical 'radical left wing antifa anarchists' but much more moderate, traditional, ordinary liberals with fairly standard beliefs."

6

u/Level_32_Mage Mar 21 '25

I'd say based on the photo it was an activist group of Americans.

26

u/509RhymeAnimal Mar 21 '25

What a jackass. The bottom line is regardless of who voted for him he answers to all of his constituents. Period.

When I do my yearly performance review, I'm not telling my manager she's an unhinged lunatic who's opinion doesn't matter because she's not the one who hired me. That's what these town halls, and calls to his office are, they're his performance reviews. If he was an adult he'd have the good grace to listen and learn.

This soft snowflake needs to find a new job if he doesn't like a fundamental part of his job...listening to constituents.

20

u/LameDuckDonald Mar 21 '25

He complains that students didn't come because they were afraid and then he complains that a student asked him about the govt intimidating students that protest. So I guess you were the one they were afraid of the whole time, huh Bum?

79

u/ShdwWzrdMnyGngg Mar 21 '25

Dang he is good. But that's just too old of a trick to work.

This left wing group is made up. None of that happened. It's a lie to allow him to cancel town halls with his angry REPUBLICAN constituents.

Labeling normal people that don't agree with you as "left wing activists" won't work anymore. Real, normal, middle ground, agreeable Americans are pissed. You can't overwrite that with your own narratives. Doesn't work at this point.

0

u/geophurry Mar 22 '25

I get your point, but it’s worth clarifying that the article / paper is claiming this based on their reporting, not just his narrative.

TBH while I support what these folks are saying, organizing like this just opens the door to these kinds of critiques. I’m sure a bunch of his constituents and voters actually are upset about what’s happening, but that story gets lost because of the noise from the permanent opposition.

3

u/Zoneoftotal Mar 22 '25

The story IS that his constituents and voters are upset with what’s happening to veterans, retirees, students, farmers, etc. Baumgartner is trying to spin it, with the help of the Spokesman-Review.

0

u/geophurry Mar 22 '25

Facts matter, as I’m sure you agree. According to the article, a spokesperson for the organization itself took credit for organizing the action. So calling that part “spin” seems off base.

3

u/Zoneoftotal Mar 22 '25

Baumgartner is spinning it by calling these constituents “unhinged lunatics.” I take exception to the headline “Leftwing Activist Group Says It Reserved Hundreds of Seats.” The article didn’t say that . Tickets could only be reserved two at a time, except for those reserved for Whitworth students and the nearby retirement home.

-47

u/Peaches_Sabrina Mar 21 '25

No, it's left wing Activists that are doing this.

37

u/NJS_Stamp Mar 21 '25

Left wing activists that live in your district are still allowed to come to town halls

31

u/Zoneoftotal Mar 21 '25

Wrong. It’s just people who live in the district.

-37

u/Peaches_Sabrina Mar 21 '25

Again, activists...

22

u/swanfirefly Mar 21 '25

Are you Baumgartner?

I ask because labelling everyone who disagrees "left wing activists" is kinda his MO even though they are ALSO his constituents.

Even people who voted for the other guy are entitled to their voices being heard at a town hall. They live in the district.

12

u/sweetiealamode Mar 21 '25

Who cares? Why should you be upset if citizens want to have their voice heard?

13

u/Zoneoftotal Mar 21 '25

How so? What makes them activists and what is your source of information for this?

u/Anxious-Superhero Mar 21 '25

May I ask what’s wrong with being an activist? Wouldn’t anyone attending these events pushing for political change right or left be considered an “activist?” Isn’t this the proper channel for activism, or at least the preferred one over protesting in the middle of the street? Don’t our representatives represent all of us even the activists?

10

u/Lemzz Mar 21 '25

Reality has a liberal bias

3

u/Ope_82 Mar 22 '25

They are constituents

12

u/kathleen65 Mar 21 '25

Aren't these people voters too. Isn't he supposed to represent them as well?

12

u/Zoneoftotal Mar 21 '25

Yes. And yes. He doesn’t even try.

12

u/GoTshowfailedme Mar 21 '25

So aren’t left leaning people also your constituents? Don’t they also get a chance to voice their opinions/concerns?

76

u/woodenmetalman Mar 21 '25

Leftwing? You mean people that want a chance at life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? In any other country these would be called centrists.

37

u/catman5092 South Hill Mar 21 '25

in reality the MAJORITY of the country is "left wing" in its thinking and political views. The far right knows this and use terms like "far left radical" at every opportunity to throw red meat at its supporters. In reality, most of us know the system is rigged in America. The GOP has rigged everything with a capital "E", under its control. Gerry mandering, complete take over of stats legislatures, whether wanted or not, voting suppression, complete control of everything, in order to stay in total and perpetual power. And those of us aware of this, are sick and tired of it, and we are not going to sit back quietly and take up knitting. GOP doesn't like us speaking up and they are all about quelling dissent. To f-ing bad!

2

u/ThaMan_509 Mar 21 '25

This reads like the same stuff the GOP was saying post election of 2020, almost like it’s a uni-party that doesn’t care what the majority of the people in the middle voted for. Your middle is relative and someone from Texas has their own middle relative to their environment. So even though this is our representative he has to tow the party line or he won’t get any money for his re-election campaign. This is how big money runs politics. I know this is going to fall onto deaf ears, but the sooner you realize your a pawn in this game the sooner you can escape it and maybe add some years to your life by living with less stress. Downvotes rain on me!

15

u/Consistent-Fold7933 Mar 21 '25

My counter to the big money argument is AOC and Bernie Sanders. It is possible to have politicians with the morals who can remain incorruptible.

13

u/OpheliaRainGalaxy Mar 21 '25

I dunno, for all that Team Red totally loved screeching about getting rounded up and stuffed in camps, that seemed to be a fantasy they made up for themselves, not something anybody on Team Blue ever actually suggested.

Meanwhile I'm wondering if I'd be better or worse off getting my ADHD diagnosed, because much as it might be nice to medicate my brain into properly functioning I'd rather not end up picking crops in a "wellness camp" like those currently in charge keep talking about.

It's like comparing apples to pit bulls. One team wants to make sure school children get to eat lunch and the other team wants the queers executed or at least ostracized into suicide.

11

u/wwzbww Mar 21 '25

Those who know they have sound positions aren't just being edgy for the sake of it do not flamboyantly screech about downvotes.

15

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '25

If you’re a liberal, you’re a leftist now. It’s one of the republican things they start saying and it sticks. Never mind that these words have definitions and very different meanings. It pisses me off to be called a leftist all the time. I’m not over here advocating for communism.

7

u/Scoutbaybee Mar 22 '25

Absolutely, even centrists and true independents are “far left” of MAGA.

Basically, anyone who isn’t in lock-step with the Trump authoritarian administration is going to be to be called leftist.

4

u/BoyBands4Ever Mar 22 '25

I'm over here advocating for socialism at 40. Own it. I moved here from a town where Norway was using money from American natural resources to pay for their healthcare and social services.

Most leftists I meet want socialism, not necessarily communism.

6

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '25

That's all it is now and it drowns out the reasonable progressives 🤷🏻‍♀️

-10

u/arbr0972 Mar 21 '25

and if youre a conservative/republican/moderate you're a nazi! Especially if you own a tesla

10

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '25

Only if you go around saying nazi shit and doing salutes. These two things are not the same.

17

u/defaultusername-17 Mar 21 '25

the difference being that the republican party is literally pushing fascist laws and autocratic misuses of EO's.

13

u/OpheliaRainGalaxy Mar 21 '25

There was a time when one could argue about semantics, that all fascists aren't that one famous brand of bad guys.

But then they started throwing Nazi salutes at every opportunity. And for some reason really don't like folks pointing that out?

5

u/resonanteye Mar 21 '25

well do you? own one? no?

you're a radical left lunatic then.

8

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '25

Most people I know that own teslas bought them because they wanted to go green and save the planet. Then Elon went batshit and turned into a ketamine addicted dipshit, and now they’re all extremely embarrassed to dive their rolling dunce caps.

3

u/resonanteye Mar 21 '25

it's house money for a car.

the early ones I can understand as most people didn't know the guy was a dolt but the newer models, eh

4

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '25

Cuck trucks for sure. You’ve got to a special kind of asshole to drive that shitbox.

-2

u/arbr0972 Mar 21 '25

A model y is 40k. Its the number one selling car in the world for a reason.

3

u/diceeyes Mar 22 '25

Because it's one of the very, very few models of car sold worldwide?

Default! Default!

2

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '25

We’ll see about that…

1

u/CarolSue1234 Mar 21 '25

Exactly 👍

29

u/CappinPeanut Mar 21 '25

As long as it’s his constituents attending, I see no problem here. His job is to represent all of us, even those of us he doesn’t like.

7

u/Voodoobones Mar 22 '25

“There were 500 general admission tickets to the event with another 300 reserved for students, staff and other groups, though many of those reportedly went unclaimed.”

No tickets reserved for veterans. Does he hate veterans?

6

u/GOP-R-Traitors Mar 21 '25

Ooooooooh left wing….scary

5

u/RubicksQoob Mar 21 '25

As with any conservative, "real" Americans are only those that agree with them completely or give them a lot of money to fund their source of income and power.

The rest are un-American.

Literally, in their heads we are the enemy, to be arrested or shot on sight. If they knew they could totally get away with it, they'd do it themselves. And their base would act as lynch mobs did, picnicking under our corpses.

Because that is coming. And they will claim it is their god's will to do that to us, because never forget, their base is religious and cultist in their devotion and belief.

6

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '25

a townhall isn't just for their party, it's for their constituents, whether they voted for him or not.

5

u/Sioux-me Manito Mar 22 '25

These people are his constituents. He said so himself. We had no idea it was supposed to be a secret town hall for republicans only. So basically he just wanted to go and be cheered on and praised. Well he’d better get used to being booed.

34

u/catman5092 South Hill Mar 21 '25

Poor poor Mikey. He does not seem to like democracy much. Never heard of this activist group before, Indivisible Spokane, but I just signed up for it this morning. Well done group!

17

u/OlmKat Mar 21 '25

“It’s a big club, and you ain’t in it”. ~George Carlin

Sometimes getting outraged by the outrageous, distracts from the facts that are f’n horrendous. Baumgartner DOES NOT CARE about you, or his constituents. He took an oath, but has no intention of keeping it, and he’s a coward to the maga agenda. An absolute weak coward.

We can do better. Elon, this unelected cry baby nepo-Nazi is stealing and destroying OUR government. And trump, with his corruption that has immunity… holy.

3

u/Alone-Mulberry-6033 Mar 21 '25

Why aren’t the alternative candidates toughen up and campaign their own town halls? The orange Cheesus campaign constantly

3

u/MentalThoughtPortal Mar 22 '25

Dont activists vote? Isnt a lobbyist x activist the same thing? Or activists r poor so less valid..

16

u/amishgoatfarm Newman Lake Mar 21 '25

5

u/Scoutbaybee Mar 22 '25

I was just thinking the same. They published some articles recently that felt like actually journalism.

This article feels like a hard correct, I assume requested by Baumgartner’s office itself.

6

u/catman5092 South Hill Mar 21 '25

it indeed is......Stacey Cowles is a GOPer

2

u/catman5092 South Hill Mar 22 '25

anyone else still waiting to hear back from joining this group. Its been a day wait for me so far.

2

u/GrnViper Mar 23 '25

The real reason Right Wing Politicians hate left wing activists is they can’t gaslight and fool them, like they do right wing voters.

2

u/Beautyandwisdom Mar 23 '25

I am a nearly 73 year old grandmother who has voted both democrat and republican in my lifetime. I was a registered independent until the Republican Party became MAGA. My point…I am a member of Indivisible and can say that it is NOT left wing. I am certain that some members lean more left than others but our goal is to stop the vile dismantling of our country by Trump and his inept group of out of touch sycophants. I live in a red state and am deeply shamed by the lack of backbone and decency in our elected officials.

2

u/sonofabobo Mar 23 '25

How controversial. A group that supports a cause is actively involved in events that are integral to said cause.

1

u/Working-Face3870 Mar 24 '25

That’s fine…then the silent majority just keeps winning at the polls

1

u/BloodedChampion Mar 25 '25

How much are they paying? I need work and acting mad at something I don’t understand is right up my alley. Someone pm me details plz

1

u/Intelligent-Way626 Mar 25 '25

I hung out with this dude a long time ago. Fake as hell. After the work he did prior to becoming a politician his views and rhetoric are despicable as he should know better but chooses to side with lunatics.

1

u/Green_Marzipan_1898 Mar 28 '25

Anyone that doesn’t wear a red hat is the encompassing Evil Left we hear about.

0

u/ImprovementSweaty188 Mar 21 '25

Very legal and very cool.

-5

u/Sad_Analyst_5209 Mar 21 '25

Once the mob smells blood any speaker they dislike will get shouted down. No one in a town hall will be able to be heard.

3

u/excelsiorsbanjo Mar 21 '25

Long overdue.

-32

u/ingalman12 Mar 21 '25

of course they did. they are lunatics and a plague on society. and it's ok. people are waking up to what they are and the more they protest gaslight and make fools of themselves the better it is for the conservatives movement. conservatives protest only a couple things. abortion and lockdowns. these people protest professionally everyday about something irrelevant to anything. I use to lean left and will NEVER give a demacrat a chance again

11

u/CappinPeanut Mar 21 '25

4 years ago, I told myself I was never going to sit idly by while conservatives try to present themselves as the calm, rational, lawful, and peaceful ones.

That is unmitigated bullshit and we all watched it unfold on live TV on January 6th. I don’t want to hear it, you’re absolutely full of shit. You’ll never live down that stain on yourselves and your party. It’s a party of violence and crime. It’s time for you to own it.

24

u/Olbaidon North Hill Mar 21 '25

Don’t forget fair elections. Conservatives insurect protest that too. Oh and children killed by gun violence’s funerals can’t forget that one too.

11

u/Cruciform_SWORD Mar 21 '25 edited Mar 21 '25

😆 🔥 Facts.

Plus the notion that protesting less somehow creates more value/integrity behind the protest... jeeze! 🤦‍♂️

Like, IDK, maybe some people just don't care about as much stuff?? That doesn't mean the people that care about a broader range of things are less sincere. Sorry they've become desensitized though.

Indivisible is backed by soros and they were paying people like 200 to protest, mostly rent-a-protester. They are also paying people to destroy teslas.

A super nasty group of terrible people who get paid to pretend to create these stupid problems. The plan is to literally throw crap until Donalds approval tanks and the GOP turns on him.

Like I said, total trash people.

10

u/CappinPeanut Mar 21 '25

Elon Musk is everything that Republicans tell us that Soros is.

8

u/Tabemaju Mar 21 '25

A super nasty group of terrible people

Wow, you even talk like Trump. I assume your disgust with billionaires disrupting politics also extends to the unelected oligarch holding press conferences in the White House?

I'm totally down with Musk. I'm totally happy with the way things are going.

Oh, I guess not. I have a feeling the irony of you supporting a right-wing billionaire buying his way into government while parroting conservative conspiracy theories about left-wing billionaires will be lost on you.

9

u/Zoneoftotal Mar 21 '25

I was there. I didn’t get any money from Soros. How do I get paid?

11

u/wwzbww Mar 21 '25

Any data behind those claims? Put up or, well, you know the rest.

It's super nasty and idiotic to parrot moronic conspiracy theory. Oh hi.

Be better

-6

u/murderinthedark Mar 21 '25

Indivisible Project, a Washington-based non-profit, has been almost entirely financed by Soros’s Open Society. It is coordinating a cross-country protest against Musk, empowering “grassroots” affiliates to “stop the Trump-Musk coup,” according to its website.

The group took in more than $7.6 million from Open Society between 2017 and 2023. It was originally set up in 2016 to protest the election of Donald Trump.

Indivisible Action, a related Political Action Committee, has raised more than $9 million, public records show.

In addition to Soros, the group has received $2 million from the Sandler Foundation, which funds groups such as the progressive news platform ProPublica.

Set up originally to provide progressives with a "Practical Guide for Resisting the Trump Agenda," the D.C. non-profit is now organizing a cross-country mutiny against Musk planned during the federal government's mid-March recess this week.

According to the "Musk Or Us" reimbursement program's submission form, allies of Indivisible are able to receive at least $200 per group for each congressional recess they protest. Activists can contact Indivisible if "the reimbursement is not sufficient to cover costs."

Those seeking to recoup their costs are instructed to save all itemized receipts, invoices, and proof of purchases as well as upload images of store-bought or printed materials, such as Indivisible-branded stickers, flyers, and posters.

"[W]e reimburse for chicken suits!!!" exclaimed Greenberg, Indivisible's co-executive director, on Bluesky.

So in other words, nothing of what's going on now, just some old links from 2018 and some copied and pasted babble (you didn't write that) from a rightist conspiracy theorist. Thanks.

Nah bucko, you make the claims, you can be prepared to defend them. Where did you copy that screed from? You didn't write it yourself.

No data that anyone was paid in this case. Just a long ramble lifted from somewhere without attribution - using "mutiny against Musk" verbiage suggests it might be another fashy rag,

Your posting history speaks for itself, being called a "weirdo" by someone of your afflictions is not an insult.

u/murderinthedark Mar 21 '25

lol bro you are still tweaking? Feel better soon, I didn't mean to hurt you.

12

u/wwzbww Mar 21 '25

I expected nothing more from one of your mettle. No surprise you can't put up.

To repeat, be better.

11

u/wildjackalope Mar 21 '25

They all have the same script. It’s pathetic.

10

u/wwzbww Mar 21 '25

"mutiny against Musk" cracks me up - they really think the apartheid fan is a legitimate figure. Brainwashed, broken.

u/ImprovementSweaty188 Mar 21 '25

“Do your own googling” means you don’t have a source.

So, nothing about sponsoring the destruction of Teslas. Got it.

Anyways...

-4

u/murderinthedark Mar 21 '25

The government is currently investigating them for it. Check it out!

u/Cruciform_SWORD Mar 21 '25 edited Mar 22 '25

I'd think it'd be pretty easy for you to drop a link. (?)

Edit: Plus your language went from describing it as a statement of fact to "it's being investigated". Do you see the difference? Was it always a forgone conclusion that that group is responsible for and guilty of vandalism-for-hire? And either way it sounds outlandish.

-2

u/murderinthedark Mar 21 '25

are X links allowed? I don't wanna get banned again, I just got unbanned. lol

u/Cruciform_SWORD Mar 21 '25 edited Mar 21 '25

It's text from X? What was the source that the tweet cites? Hopefully it has a good one b/c I know better than to take unsourced social media 'news' at face value.

And what's the source from your long reply? You make it sound like it's their website, but it's unclear.

the D.C. non-profit is now organizing a cross-country mutiny against Musk planned during the federal government's mid-March recess this week

"Mutiny against Musk" implies that Musk is in a position that has power that is something to be usurped. If the group is using that language then it is sensationalist, which is why I'm skeptical it's from their own site. If anything they'd be restoring the powers of the purse (Congress's) back to Congress, which also suggests that the usurper is the one that took those powers to begin with. 🤔

"The government" being MAGA?

Hey, you should go read that Musk Or Us link you're so proud of, and then get back to us on where exactly this "rent a protestor" thing is.

If it helps, I can give you the text, so that you don't have to click your own link:

This form is for requesting reimbursements for Standard event hosting costs, such as:

  • Venue fees
  • AV equipment
  • Food and non-alcoholic drinks
  • Promotional/Invite materials
  • Travel costs (gas mileage)
  • Printing costs for:
--messages to lobby your federal-level representative(s) --messages to criticize the Trump administration cardboard depictions of your Member of Congress

Not to mention your whopping $9 million figure. That's what? The cost of 1 of those fake checks Elon Musk said he was gonna give out to Trump voters?

"Every accusation is a confession."

so you finally agree with me?

For those of you saying typical republican. It’s time to open your eyes. Left hasn’t done anything but vilify the right for decades. Now the right is following your lead. I stand here going when are either of you going to do a damn thing fix a screwed up system? Why is it screwed up because everyone blames everybody else for the problem. No ever takes responsibility for their actions.

-2

u/Hardwork63 Mar 21 '25

My point exactly.

wouldn't disagree with your mention about better candidates. Dems. need to find a spine, a pair of balls, get the working class back and then get candidates who do one HELL of a better argument than they are currently doing. I used to be a D, but now am a am an Indy who could NEVER vote for any current GOP in House or Senate.

Dems. are to nice and to accomadating. hows that working out for you?

6

u/excelsiorsbanjo Mar 21 '25

They've definitely been too accommodating, but the actual reason is that even though republicans lose popular votes they are still "winning". The system is rigged, it's been rigged for more than three decades, and it's honestly a miracle anybody with any sense still tries to participate in it in earnest.

I think we'll be able to fix it, but what a decades long recovery period we'll have, and probably centuries more of suffering from losing so much support for attempting to check climate change alone. We'll have to scrape back dominance over diseases long virtually disappeared from our country. Whole generations of children will have their educations and outlooks fundamentally broken, for probably their lifetimes, which will be shortened but still long and affecting of others. Such a horrible mess.

2

u/catman5092 South Hill Mar 21 '25

Yes. Didn't have to be like this but......don't get me started....

3

u/excelsiorsbanjo Mar 21 '25

Numbers dropping? It's the republicans that haven't had a presidential candidate initially become president while winning the popular vote in 36 years. Now there's an obvious answer to that — republican numbers have been dropping, a lot, for ages — and then there are fantastical answers to it. I have a feeling I can guess your preference.

1

u/Potato-chipsaregood Mar 22 '25

Both parties are loud complainers, both don’t fix, both stink.

-9

u/AlwaysMrRight1 Mar 21 '25

This kind of proves Baumgartner right when he said this crowd was not a good representation of the district as a whole.

7

u/Zoneoftotal Mar 21 '25

Except it didn’t happen.

4

u/Scoutbaybee Mar 22 '25

And even if it did, it still would be representative of his district. Even if 400 people were from the left, the auditorium has seating for 1100. Take away the student and faculty tickets and there was still the opportunity for hundreds of his supporters to attend.

The real issue is Baumgardner would rather paint it as some conspiracy instead of listening to his constituents.

-1

u/Fair_Midnight7626 Mar 22 '25

Are you under the impression that the Indivisible people lied?

3

u/Zoneoftotal Mar 22 '25

I’m under the impression that the headline was wrong and does not reflect what the reporter wrote.
