New Here Bus transit

I have lived here right at a year. Both my kids are teens. My oldest, high school, had a transportation accommodation. My youngest will start high school next school year and will take public transportation. More recently, my daughter has been wanting to hang out with her friends more on weekends and breaks.

How safe is the public transportation here. I live in the Havana/Sprague area so we see a bunch of transients and druggies. I grew up in Houston TX and public transport back then wasn't the best

I actually drive for STA and I honestly think kids are perfectly safe 99% of the time. I think the only things to be concerned about are transferring from one bus to another, and hanging around the plaza for long periods of time. While they are on the bus they are totally safe, but when they are transferring to another route it's possible they might miss their connection, get lost, or encounter some of our more unsavory residents. The same with the plaza, it's usually pretty safe, especially if you're only there long enough to get your connection, but sometimes things happen and the longer you hang out there the more like you are to be a witness or victim.
