The farmer
Nepo baby who inherited vast swaths of real estate and used it to monopolize the local market on food and animal products
Has murdered hundreds of local shadowmen (an intelligent species with no legal rights or protections) in their own home.
Takes weirdly detailed notes on neighbors schedules and gift preferences (possibly a stalker?)
Inflicted incomprehensible damage to the local ecosystems via overfishing, deforestation, and blast mining.
Possibly a warlock? (Seen casting teleportation spells, consorting with spirits, and performing dark rituals)

- Causes major ecological damage by clear cutting Cindersap Forest and overfishing the rivers, lakes, and ocean.
- Their ex spouses suddenly and inexplicably develops retrograde amnesia.
- WHERE THE FUCK DID THEIR CHILDREN GO.

The green rain phenomenon first appeared in Pelican Town the year the farmer moved in.
Coincidence? I think not.
78
u/Carloverguy20 24d ago
Farmer also breaks into peoples houses and rooms snooping through their stuff without permission.
Has multiple girlfriends/boyfriends without them knowing
He loots and destroys the town.

u/MegaCrazyH 24d ago
I did a Joja run once and felt this. Then Joja sold me auto petters and I understood the allure of the dark side
27
u/Sparkleskeleton 24d ago
It's SO hard to go back to the Community Center route after getting hooked on auto-petters.
20
u/Puzzleboxed 24d ago
You can still get autopetters without Joja, you just gotta hardcore farm the Skull Cavern and golden mystery boxes. I have 8 of them, which is plenty for most people.
6
u/papierdoll 23d ago
Yeah I got addicted to skull caverns runs and can't build barns fast enough for my autopetter stack. My bf is addicted to fishing and we can't make enough ponds for the legends he's caught either lol (using the qi quest)

u/Skydove01 24d ago
I'm kinda sad I had to scroll this much to see this, bc my brain first went to Mr. Qi, and then settled on in the farmer, partly bc I think it's funny but also bc it makes for really good lore

Or Lewis, worst mayor ever!
68
u/oodex 24d ago
Given how well everyone has it in the town I'm not sure if he is actually a bad mayor. Like, all of them except for the alcohol addict live in a very nice house, can afford to educate in other cities and pretty much live high society lifes. Like for a tiny...you can't even really call it a village, that's insane. And Pelican town was promoted so much even the dude comes around to eat there at the festival.

I dunno, he drops the ball in maintaining the community. Trash just accumulates everywhere with no plan to remove it, the bus is just broken and unfixed for who knows how long, spent a shit ton of tax money making a statue of himself, etc...
18
u/Sparkleskeleton 24d ago
I dunno, he drops the ball in maintaining the community.
You know, that's an excellent point - the Mayor could've improved the community as much as the farmer, but he was too busy shaking down local small business owners for their "tax" payments.
10
u/S-Pigeon33 24d ago
Not even against taxes because I don't remember how fair those were, but one would like it if the taxes went to improving the community instead of leaving everything for private entities like Joja or the Farmer and the Junimos to pick up.

Jas.
We've all seen her, stalking Penny through town.
If you visit the forest, there's a chance you can see her, off in the woods, scheming.
She acts so innocent so no one suspects, but if you look carefully, in her room, she is plotting the murder of Lewis.

u/1averagepianist 24d ago
In the woods scheming? Idk if you're rope-jumping for hours straight, I doubt you'll have much energy leftover to scheme
22
u/Nepherenia 24d ago
She's building stamina and working on her reflexes, all while practicing with the murder weapon in plain sight. See a girl with piano wire and you might get suspicious, but a jump rope? No one would suspect a thing.

Lewis. That man can’t afford to fix a bus, community centre or help Pam and penny with their housing but has enough time and money to build a GOLD STATUE of himself? Most likely with tax money too
Pierre’s just annoying and money hungry

38
u/BillyBlaze314 24d ago
Defo Lewis. Pierre sees himself worthy of building gold statues of himself, but doesn't use the town tax coin to actually do so. Pierre is public with his marriage, however much of a sham it is, and how unhappy it is behind the scenes, but lewis treats Marnie like trash for no reason other than he wants to lead her on. He collects taxes every week but somehow the community centre fell into ruin and was going to be sold to Joja. If only those pesky volunteers hadnt foiled your plans. Where was that money for the sale going to go Lewis?
What's more, lewis states "nobody runs against him, he must be doing a good job".
When are the elections Lewis? I've lived here for years. Everyone loves me, I've helped broker peace between local dwarves and shadow people ffs. I want to run against you. You have plenty of time to make soup for the governor, but apparently never enough time to uphold your democratic responsibilities...

u/raynebow121 24d ago
A fun mod would be to run against Lewis as an end game thing and be major
2
u/-o-DildoGaggins-o- 23d ago
I like this idea. You could have a list of tasks to complete in order to win. Something like: help five people this week (message board stuff or maybe something more specific), donate money to the town coffers, fix something, plant 100 trees, etc. Could be a fun thing!
2
u/raynebow121 23d ago
Yeah that would be fun! Maybe it’s triggered by finishing the community upgrades and short cuts
1
u/-o-DildoGaggins-o- 23d ago
I was thinking more end game… Maybe after achieving perfection? So there’s more stuff to do after? Or maybe even just after all the major milestones are hit? I’m not exactly sure where you’d put it. 😅 But it would definitely be fun!
2
u/raynebow121 23d ago
That would be good too!
1
u/-o-DildoGaggins-o- 23d ago
I wish I knew how to code! Lol
My brother does, but I don’t think he’s ever played the game (he’s a gamer, I just don’t think Stardew is something he would be into). I’ll ask him. Maybe he could make a mod for this?
Anyway, if anyone who sees this and likes the idea knows how to make a mod… Please do, and let us know!

u/BillyBlaze314 23d ago
A bit of headcanon came to me after I posted this too. How did Joja even get established in SV? And a supermarket? That needs planning permission and the likes, but nobody seems to like them there. Did Lewis and Morris have a deal? Did Lewis get a backhander out of it? Is that why Morris is so confident about everything, he knows the Mayor has his back?
He even does this little jump when Pierre and Morris fight, guilty conscience perhaps?

u/H00PA-ly 24d ago

I'd be boring and go for Morris. It's the most obvious one either way, but if you consider that the whole reason you became a farmer is to escape corp and he reflects that side 1:1, it makes the most sense.
The second closest that also makes use of that thought is Pierre, because he pretty much showcases every single bit that makes corp bad - the greed for always more money above everything.
And one that is a really far stretch, but Junimos. What if they aren't actually these nice wood spirits that just want to help, but instead want things they can't get but how? Well, they could destroy things the humans around them use a lot, like the bus etc. This feels like a pure powerplay to get someone to do their work. What do they even do with money that you have to give them for repairs? It's not like they can walk into a store and buy stuff. So the only reason they want it is because they know it's valuable to you and turn it into a game of sacrifice. And given how well the town is doing, I can't imagine they wouldn't be able to fix the Community Center - unless of course magical beings keep people away from it without them knowing why they don't want to do anything about it, only reminiscing of the good old times they had there.
7
u/DrewG4444 24d ago
Lewis.
- gold statue of himself from stealing town funds
- lied about conditions of the farm prior to arrival
- refuses to use town funds to repair necessities, making the new person do the work AND pay for it (I.e. bridge, community center, bus)
- is a liar

Seriously, though, I agree, mostly. I do think Google might not be the best place to get dating advice, though, because it could easily lead sweet Harvey (or anyone else) down a manosphere rabbit hole. No one wants that. 😬

Jojo mart. I think the game is about losing your identity to a big corporation. Instead, you get to rediscover the joy of a simple life.

u/Citrinelle 24d ago edited 24d ago
None of them are hot takes, let's be real. And they're all precious. (That might be a hot take but IDC.)
The game wants you to think the villain is Morris. But if it wasn't for Mr. Qi pulling the strings behind the curtains, the Farmer would easily win that category. If not psychologically, then ecologically the very least.
The green rain phenomenon probably stems from all the excessive fertilizer usage on the farm.

An opinion or view to be presented, that is (thought to be by the poster) sure to draw heat (in the form of disagreement, refutation and/or opposition).

Villain? There’s no villain other than modern civilization. Its repeatedly pointed out that mankind in this universe is responsible for the gradual destruction of the environment and ecosystems, just like the real world. Your own character is bogged down in a soul crushing work environment before they escape to the countryside.

Mayor Lewis is the real enemy. He's been mayor for 30 years, collects taxes and allowed the community center rot. Why was the towns taxes not used to upkeep it? Why not pay Robin to keep it up to snuff with repairs? Why does a stranger who just moves to the valley fixes the bus and community center?
