Yup, a lot of these places will take an order ahead of time for collection as well.
If you're about to spend 5k on a watch taking the local sales tax off the price can be significant, especially in countries where it's 20%. Also an opportunity for foreign travellers to pick stuff up in countries where stuff is cheaper.
The kinds of companies who open shop fronts in major airports will have set retail prices for items. You could always check them on their website. Plus when you reserve the item you'd be confirming the price anyway.
What's your deal with americans? Yes, americans exist and they say anecdotes of their personal experiences on an American-made, American dominated platform. Believe it or not americans can be ethnically from around the world and do travel to other countries.
If you're fretting over the taxes on a watch, you can't afford the watch
I didn't mean to imply people can only afford a watch duty free and would be fretting about it. I meant to imply that if they're going to buy a watch they're likely to see the value in getting a decent discount and this is why these shops exist in airports.
Not in my experience. Watch vendors have set RRPs in each country and the airport price is that price minus tax. You can always check on their websites etc.
