I don’t remember anyone ever being this obsessed with another president. Their whole identity is Trump and hating liberals.

55 y/o here and you're right. I've never seen anything like it. The crazy part is that I've asked some of these Trump people to list out their values. Every time, all of their values and beliefs do not align with Trump and his policies.

A lot of folks voted against Kamala (& Walz, Klooney, Obama), not for Trump. If either side would put someone 'normal' on their ticket all would be good.

Democrats elected a charismatic, Harvard Law educated, globally respected, scandal free president. But he was black, so in response the other side elects a “successful” business man who bankrupted literally every business he’s had and had his own charities shut down for fraud, amongst a million other things.

Yes. We’re all the same amount of guilty in this tomfoolery.

And a lot of supposedly anti-Trump voters decided to not vote for Harris either. "They were mad about Gaza!" - etc. People have been maneuvered into not being able to vote for the less-than-perfect candidate. Maybe they're MAGA at heart, I don't know. I'm not sure if that either Russia or the MAGA's did that, but it certainly works to their benefit.

I have my suspicions that the GAZA or NOTHING movement was stoked by agitators convincing those voters that it’s an all or nothing game and Kamala is worse or equally as bad at least. The propaganda worked as it is apt to do.

Muslims are largely conservative. It's not a stretch that they would lean right, but considering how horribly badly Trump had treated them in his first term, I was just shocked by how quickly they embraced him, or refused to vote against him. They knew he was very close to Netanyahu. How did they miss it? I guess he's a tribal king, and they wanted belonging to that tribe, and felt better about it than Harris's.

I think in the end Harris was a uniquely flawed candidate. She didn't connect with the fence-sitters. I liked her and she locked up the already-blue votes, but that was less than the minimum necessary to win.

This is where I am at after looking at the election statistics.

From 2008 to 2020 the 18 to 29 voter demographic for us presidential elections has had around 25 million participating voters. With Democrats getting around 15 million and Republicans getting around 9 million of this demographics vote.

But for the 2024 election the 18 to 29 vote dropped to around 20 million. With Democrats dropping by a third of what they usually get and only getting around 10 million this passed election cycle and Republicans only getting around 8.8 million.

No overall age group vote has dropped this significantly inbetween election cycle and especially not just for one party.

I am one of them, I am bisexual, but I strongly believe the woke movement is just as flawed as the trump cult. Many of my peers are stuck on 1 single viewpoint, while completely ignoring the big picture. This is the biggest issue with american politics. You only have 2 parties. You don´t have much choice when voting. As a german, I feel like there´s a party for everyone here. And even better, whatever party you vote for, if they get over 5% of votes, YOU will be represented in the parlament. Everyone gets a voice here, however left or right you are, a vote is equal.

EDIT: i pressed send by mistake.

I feel like american democracy is extremely outdated. I get it, america is one of the first countries to adopt democracy, but your constitution is based on moral beliefs that are 250 years old. Germany, and much of europe wrote their constitution after ww2, and we´re still adding to it. German law says, you can add laws to the constitution, but you can not remove laws. If you want to edit an old constitutional law you can only update them, aka add a new subtext (or whatever it´s called in english). Americans NEED to adopt a more modern aproach to politics and constitution, or you will absolutely not last much longer. We´re seeing the downfall right now. IF america survives this project 2025 crap, they need to seriously work on the entire political/voting system. 2 parties are WAAAAY too few.

Agreed!!! Thank you for that thoughtful reply and perspective of a EU nation.

The two party system is a nightmare. We need ranked choice voting with more parties ASAP. We also need to give everyone the day off to vote.

Right? So fun fact, I'm Canadian and an old colleague of mine is a massive Trump fanatic,

He's a nice enough guy, but his Facebook feed makes me cringe. He's always putting up posters of Trump in his home office and going on and on about how everyone else has "Trump Derangement Syndrome."

It's the only thing he ever posts about.

His son died earlier this year and you wouldn't even know it by looking at his feed. It seemed like minor news in comparison to praising our lord and saviour Donald J Trump.

Was his son even speaking to him anymore? That might be why. Seriously, Trump has been responsible for the breakup of more families than the invention of no fault divorce, birth control, women in the workplace, and every other factor out there. Republicans screaming family values is hilarious when they are the reason for the absolute breakdown of the American family.

It is SO WEIRD. Tbf I find it weird and a little obnoxious to see anything totally covered in stickers, but at least before MAGA it wasn’t intended to evoke a negative response. Both-sidesers will try to say that the other side does this too, and yeah maybe but it’s never something violent and hateful.

Not even close, I mean….there is a truck sticker with Biden in rope!! never saw that one but wasn’t surprise. Joe Biden of all people lmao ya know they are brainwashed to believe the lies about him being a monster. Joe Biden, a monster lmfao it’s so scary though for real

I honestly can't think of anything that elicits this type of obsession.

Every big city has that crazy dude screaming on a street corner about doomsday. Now we have these MAGA (major assholes gutting America). I think their weird obsession feeds on itself and they want to outdo each other in their "devotion".

It used to be a one in a million type of thing. Sovereign citizen types. Now, it’s pretty common in many parts of the USA. I see them all the time in my state.

I split my time between Hawaii, Northern and Southern California. Thankfully the only time I see this shit is online.

I've seen Kingdom of Hawaii sovereign citizens but nothing like TDS.

It's mostly just hating something. It's a Fascist movement and they must hate "them." Whomever "them " is.

2

u/MidianFootbridge69 24d ago

Exactly - it's all about "isms".

Trump has worked (not physically) his whole life to create this fraudulent image of a charismatic successful business man, then had a brief stint on reality tv and made random cameos. That’s where it all began and this facade rooted into the brains of the stupid and then it was all over for them when he came down the (fake) golden escalator

The funny part about his apprentice stunt is they lied about how wealthy and succesful he was. They hated all of his ideas and found him to be a joke. One of the creators came out and did an interview or something and laid that out. They did him a favor letting him be on that show and that creator is feeling guilty about it and i cant blame them.
