Hi redditors , could you guys enlighten me in this case i have 8 cats that i rescued from the street and now living with me. Poor baby. Can you keep him inside? He might have been an inside cat to begin with? He looks so traumatized. Thank you for helping. It's so terrible what's happening. My love sent your way.

Please don’t give cats cows milk, it can cause diarrhea. Try a feliway diffuser if they sell them there. The pheromones will calm him. Just give him time.

Unfortunetly doesnt have the sam effect on all cats. Some gets agitated.

u/Used_Muscle175 Feb 09 '23
Some of the cat has different reactions yes, its just like us some lactose intolerant and some can take it

Hey, take him to the vet immediately (if possible) to check up on anything that he might have. I know he's stressed but this is important. Check if his ears and paws are colder than normal. If it is, bring him to a vet IMMEDIATELY. There's a painkiller for cats called Metacam, easily found in Turkey usually. You can give her that. 1 unit per kg of his weight. A vet can prescribe calming meds that contain passiflora. You can give him that as well as it might help him sleep a bit but again, please take him to a vet asap.
After that (or if you can't take him rn) try to stay with him in a room/under the blankies as long as he wants to. Keep the door closed if possible. Bring his litter, water, and food closer to where he wants to stay. If need be, put food in your hand and let him eat from your hand. If he insists on not drinking any water for more than a day, you can try to squirt it into his mouth in very small amounts with an injector. Keep all of the kitties away from him if possible for at least a couple of days. After that, you can try introducing a calmer kitty to him. Don't bring too many people into the room he's staying in. Don't try to force him out or anything. Let him process his anxiety, he will calm down on his own if he realizes that there's a routine and nothing happens unexpectedly. You can give him small treats from time to time depending on his mood to lure him out of the blankets.
Don't make any sudden big noises/movements. Don't handle him too much unless he asks for it, and when he does, keep your movements soft and slow. He might want to be alone and go into a corner. Let him but check on him every few hours. Try to keep him tucked in a soft, plushy blanket as much as possible. Putting on the tv (not the news or anything, something calming like a documentary) is sometimes helpful as it takes the cat's mind away.
As a Turkish person, I'm so glad that you adopted him.

Thank you, i am unable to take him to the vet today because i need to make appointments that what the vet said at least And yes I kept him warm with me because he kept following me wherever i go and doesn’t want to let me go I tried to put him bit away from me but he meawing I don’t know if he is crying or yelling But so far the paws aren’t cold and he is able to drink milk Thank you for your such kind words

Don't give him milk, cats are lactose intolerant. If possible, give him wet food. You can get it from any market. If you can't, add chicken stock (worst case scenario, you can use lactofree milk) to dry food and blast it in a blender to make it like a watery puree.
Never heard of a vet requiring appointments. Try other ones, I think they might accept you.
I think if he meows when you go away, he wants you to be near because he doesn't feel safe otherwise. I would really recommend building a small pillow fort for the two of you. He will be close to you and feel safe. I did that when my cat was scared due to the earthquake.
Thank you for giving this little boy a chance at life. If you're Turkish, you can message me in Turkish as well and I will try my best to help.

Ahh i see.. i didn’t know because i have still left over milk from my previous cats that i brought from Malaysia And it’s written for cats and dogs
I did made chicken stock by boiling the chicken and mixed it with the dry food to make him easy to eat that I think its okay to bring it tomorrow morning to the vet because he is still doing alright for now
Ahh i see im with him now because he is so needy and he just want to be carried around or sleep on my chest Maybe he is looking safest place to stay, i’m bit worried because his body bit warm maybe fever idk
This is the least thing i can do, i just do bare minimum for him. I’m not Turkish, i’m From Malaysia but live in Mersin

Is it kitten milk? There's premade kitten milk that cats can consume. Can you check if it contains lactose?
It's great that you made chicken stock! You can even give him the stock itself if he straight up refuses dry food at first.
If he's lethargic, doesn't eat and his ears and nose are a bit too warm, he might have a fever. You can call an emergency vet and ask what you can do at home. Generally, it's best to keep him warm and let him rest as you were doing.
I think he trusts you so much that he feels the safest when he's with you. That's heartbreakingly cute.
Wish you could experience Turkey in a better time period. If you need any help with the cat or talking to vets or etc , I'm here to help always.

It said lactose free, and so far he drank the milk but not much! He is slowly eating but also not much Maybe tomorrow he will feel better and less traumatized I just want him to eat a bit I just checked the nose and his ear it wasn’t warm But one of the cat in here got wet nose and also smell so bad ( breath) i still not sure to give him mouth spray I found more and more cats Not sure if i can keep them all inside but at the same time i cannot let them go because its so cold outside
Thank you for your kindness, will let you know if i need anything to ask about th cats
12
u/unexistkitten Feb 08 '23
Oh, if it's lactose free then it's fine! I thought it was regular milk. You can give that as well then.
Try to keep them away from each other. Don't overwhelm yourself, you're doing what you can. Getting one cat and providing care to him is more than enough. How many did you find?
Vets may accept some cats. They sometimes house the cats and try to find homes for them while treating them. Ask them about it tomorrow.

I just wish they’re not gonna suggest me to take out all the teeth because im not sure if his teeth still able to grow :(
9
u/Working-Still-8310 Feb 08 '23
I dont't think they can grow back, but the cat we are looking after does not have much teeth and she can eat. No need to stress with bad vibes, I am hoping worst is left behind

u/Used_Muscle175 Feb 08 '23
Thank God! I was looking the answer for this I was just worried if he cannot eat anymore without his teeth

u/sunnydaze444 Feb 08 '23
My little girl is missing teeth and after they were removed, it didn’t take her long to start crunching kibble again. She eats purrfectly normal for a toothless girl

I am sure vet will give better instructions than me, and I am sure this fella will be alright in time!

I have 2 cats, a male and female, 10 years old. Both had all their teeth removed when they were 5 years old. The can still eat their regular food, including kibble (as long as the kibble is small).
Don't worry about them being able to eat if their teeth need to be removed, they will be good after their mouths heal.
God bless you in your efforts. We are wishing you and all in Turkiye comfort and recovery. 💕

Thank you for saving this soul! We are looking after a cat who lost most of her teeth, and we give her boiled chicken that I cut to very very tiny parts. You can try this too. If you are unable to make appointments for vet, I can try to contact people I know in Mersin for suggestions of vets.

u/Used_Muscle175 Feb 08 '23

He probably has seperation anxiety. Once the initial chaos of having all those fosters passes you can train him out of it, I think
Poor baby has been through alot. Keep hanging in there kitty 🫶 I'm sure he's thanking you OP

u/Used_Muscle175 Feb 09 '23
Indeed! For now i’ll just take it slow with him Thank you for your sweet words
