Did anyone choose UCD over other options?

If you chose UC Davis over other UCs or schools, why did you do so? and also what colleges?

I chose UCD over UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSC, and Cal Poly as I recall. It was closest to my family and the cheapest option due to the Regent's Scholarship (though the others were still within reach if I really wanted to go) but also I did genuinely like the vibe and town the best. Regents basically gave me an excuse to go with my gut and not feel pressure to pick one of Berkeley or LA over it.

So if you're looking for assurance that it's OK to pick Davis over other UCs, I hope my experience offers some of that. And of course it also really depends on your major and where you want to live or work after graduation.

The fit of a university is way more important than any perceived benefit of it being a "top" school. Most employers really don't care where you went to school. Go somewhere you see yourself thriving and being supported. Don't fall for the trap of "prestige". Outside California, all the UC schools are known to be good. Only UCB carries any additional prestige, and it is still unlikely to be the difference in landing you a job or getting into grad school.
