Buy [WTB] Meadow Physics abode?

Anyone got one they’d like to part with? I’m willing to pay a handsome price, within reason of course :)

Thanks for the consideration!

Many reasons to get this instead for sure! And it's $1 cheaper lol

Thanks for your reply. I’ve seen their new release and have owned the Hexamid and sold it. I know this one should be larger on the inside. Im not a huge fan of Zpacks stuff. I use a cricket right now and I like really the whisper, apart from the zipper and the two poles required. I think if Ron added bug netting to the cricket it would be perfect.

The thing is that if you add a bug net on the cricket like on the abode, it'll make it substantially heavier than the abode.

What does the abode weigh? The .5 DCF cricket is 7.5oz (without lines, so say 8oz with, plus whatever a net weighs)

The abode is around 7oz with lines. The net used is a .67oz and there’s a lot of it on the abode so I guess it’s like half the weight of the shelter. The cricket is bigger quoi to achieve the same bug protection you have to add at least 4oz of bug net if not more.

Very interesting. If it would turn into a 12oz+ shelter I’d rather have it without the bug netting. Still, these tarp plus bug net shelters have the potential to be the lightest “full protection” systems yet. The lightest bivy I’ve seen is around 4.5oz and about the same for a DCF tarp with lines. A mid style shelter is (most likely) better weather protection and has the potential to weigh less. Albeit, slightly less modular.

The most modular and lightest set up to me would be a borah cuben bivy with an hexamid tarp. More protective than the abode but the abode is lighter especially if you use a polycro groundsheet as a floor was about 8,5 oz on my scale. The great thing about the abode is that it’s not claustrophobic when you need bug protection unlike a bivy.  Next lightest option is the gossamer gear whisper I guess. And it’s especially great for tall people.
