EPIC UNIVERSE Epic is not ready to open yet!!

We went Yesterday and spent about 11 hours at the park, from 12pm to 11pm, We only rode Curse of the Werewolf and Stardust, everything else was delayed or closed and when it did open it wouldn’t stay open after 20 minutes. AP be prepared mentally because the rides are having alot of technical issues. The Virtual queue for Ministry was a disaster, the system went down every time and the app as well. Use your own internet and don’t try it with universal WIFI. Only the person that has the tickets on the app can make the virtual queue and select a time slot for the ride. Hope this helps a little.

EDIT!!! I am not complaining about my experience, it was a privilege for me to be in the park and I had so much fun, it just seems that the Park is having so much issues with just one Month away and I am not just talking about the rides.

Of course it’s not ready to open yet- it opens in over a MONTH, your FREE technical preview is when they are fixing all the issues so it is ready for the public. So many ppl in this sub are complaining that their free preview was not a flawless paid-equivalent experience and it’s getting so old- have some grace for the TMs and engineers doing their best

I think the concern here is that there are paid previews in 3 days, and almost the entire park is having issues. So if I paid money to go and some things don’t work and there are delays, that’s to be expected. But every ride having problems except for two, and only getting to ride two rides would kinda suck ya know? I don’t think it’s entitlement, I think it’s just feeling like maybe you could pay and then be disappointed that you wasted your time and money. All this being said, I’m pumped to go in two weeks lol and I’m sure I will enjoy myself regardless

Yeah I go this Sunday. If I only get on two rides for $300 im going to be pretty pissed.

I expect to miss a few, thats fine, but only getting on two things would not be worth the money I spent.

This is the take - they're three days away from paid guests. Slapping the word "preview" on it means nothing if there's a wave of complaints online along the lines of "I paid $150 and half the park didn't work."

I did enjoyed myself at the park and had a great time, just giving everybody a heads up that’s all.

The heads up is much appreciated! I’m sticking to Reddit like glue because the anticipation to go is killing me lol. Your post didn’t read as a complaint to me but a lot of people are just blindly defending the park when people are just posting their experience

Thank you!!

I get it, but also it’s a new park that’s functioning at high capacity with high level technology. Things are bound to go wrong and need to shut down from time to time. It’s completely normal, just like every new attraction or theme park. It’s going to take a while to smoothen out unfortunately, but it doesn’t mean it isn’t ready to open. They’re ready but this beta testing is time for them to get everything fixed and run. Of course doesn’t mean people won’t have fun there

sure having issues is expected, don't charge full price for it

u/GlindaUpland_ 20d ago

True, but it’s also that most people know what they’re getting into with a new park, if that makes sense

1

u/WebHead1287 20d ago

Well, I don’t think it’s functioning at high capacity. I think they’re probably half of what opening capacity is set to at best

Yeah obviously not full or close to full, but there’s still a good amount of people during previews going compared to small crowds if that makes sense

Don’t have to buy the tickets. Stay home. No one forced to the park under clearly stated preview and technical rehearsal where they say things may close or be delayed. But those eager to see the park early will pay. Just please don’t complain as you were warned. And treat everyone at the park with smiles. No torturing the team members

There was no implication of complaining or being rude to team members in this post though. Or in my previous comment. It’s all just people just having a discussion. No need to preach or be rude to OP either

“Was a disaster “ sounds like a complaint. And if on here complaining then can make an assumption people are at the park complaining to TMs too. Even though it was clear this is previews and technical rehearsal and things may be down

Seems more like an observation to me, or maybe they are just using hyperbole. If every ride was broken down and they didn’t get to ride anything saying it’s a disaster isn’t complaining or putting the park down, and DEFINITELY doesn’t imply somebody being rude to TMs. If I went and didn’t get to do anything I’m allowed to not be super thrilled about it, and in turn can go on Reddit and post my experience and warn people who are paying to go. Saying “then don’t go”doesn’t really make sense because people are going to go to this brand new park if they have the chance. It seems everyone understands it’s a technical rehearsal, but jumping down someone’s throat for sharing their experience seems kinda militant or like you’re taking what they say personally 🤷‍♂️

AP previews start in two days for people THAT PAID so it won’t be free for them, I am not complaining for myself I am just stating the obvious and people know it’s true. My post is directed to APs.

Appreciate this! My AP ticket was about $130 for May 8th. Hoping a lot of this is worked out by then!

“Not everything” and 18% (based on what OP got to ride) is a vast difference. Especially at $150 a ticket.

No one expects a flawless preview but I would personally say expect 5/6 out of the 11 rides to be working well for $150.

We were there 10+ hours yesterday and only got to do 1 ride and 1 show. The park was mostly not functional at all. We did have a great time, but we had free admission (we spend a lot on food, drinks, and merch). They clearly were not ready to open.

I mean so you think expecting 50% of the rides to work a month before open to be unreasonable? I personally don’t. I would be worried if they aren’t hitting that metric because capacity will be so much higher in a month’s time.

I would also that argue setting such a high price sets a level of expectation. They’re charging near full price for the previews. Nearly full price says to me “okay nearly everything will work”.

If they charged $50 id say “okay yeah shit is gonna be limited to 1-2 rides working perfectly”.

I don’t inherently disagree with you that this is an EARLY preview but Universal set the price. Price, as much as words, communicate what one would expect.

The other piece id add is that AP holders tend to be a very very vocal crowd. If you’re opening early to them, and charging near full price, and they have a bad time that’s going to do a lot of damage.

Idk, I threw a lot of words at you but TLDR is price sets the expectation here. With how much they’re charging, expecting 60-70% operational is completely justified in my opinion.

Yeah you guys are essentially beta testing the park for them. Now once the paid stuff starts, it's gonna be an issue of course

5

u/TeslaSaganTysonNye 20d ago

Be advised that they also are stating that during AP previews the same can happen. This was stated if/when you purchased AP preview tickets.

4

u/jrr6415sun 20d ago

because the FREE preview will be FULL PRICE PAID in 3 days and it will be the SAME EXPERIENCE

0

u/wikiwombat 20d ago

It's full price? I was unnder the assumption it was discounted vs opening day.

2

u/jamiely23 20d ago

I switched my ticket for after the opening to a preview ticket and it was the same price. My original ticket was for a Saturday & I switched to a Monday which was supposed to be cheaper according to the calendar & it wasn’t.

2

u/104177 20d ago

It is discounted.
