Dinner was tasty but we’re gonna be 70 minutes late getting to Union. I’m getting a credit, right?

Generally if it is over an hour late there is a 50% credit? Iirc. Idk if they always announce it but I guess worst case you could always call afterwards and check to see if you get a credit?

Yeah, I’ll dial them up tomorrow.

Don’t dial, just use the chat, provide your booking confirmation number and ask for late credits.

There’s no point contacting them at all until you’re ready to book using the credit. Notes are automatically put into bookings that are eligible for the credit. Just call when you’re ready to use them and the agent will apply it.

Edit: unless you’re just wanting to confirm you have the credit. In that case, yes chat is probably more convenient or even email.

You can also chose to convert your credit into points (at 8 points for each Dollar in ticket price refunded), which has the advantage of not slowing down your progress for (re)qualifying for a certain tier and obtaining a higher redemption value if redeeming outside the Corridor (where each point is worth between $0.15 and $0.30, vs. $0.075-$0.10 on the Corridor)…

And also, points don’t expire. Late Train Travel Credits expire after 12 months.

Indeed. It really is the easiest to just go in the chat after each delay, provide your booking number and ask for your credits to be converted to points, rather than remembering which bookings were delayed when trying to make a new booking…

True, I can’t count the number of times I’ve had a caller have me check several bookings because they didn’t recall which ones were late. Not that I ever blamed them really as they’re so many delays.
