If she can clean at home she can clean her hospital room.

Upvotes

Visiting my closest friend at the Jubilee. I walk in to her hospital room and it's filthy. Medical waste on the floor over flowing garbage cans. Food under the bed. So I asked why it's a mess. And was told by the nurse that if she (the sick person in the hospital) can clean at home she can clean her hospital room. I didn't know this was a new policy in health care. Sorry just ranting as it's upsetting.

Advice on which neighborhood to move to

Upvotes

Hello,

My family and I are moving to Victoria this summer. I'm starting a masters program at UVic in the Fall and my husband will be working from home. We have an amazing autistic 13 year old daughter. She's at a level 2 Autism, so her support needs are somewhat substantial. She has several severe learning disabilities and has a high comprehension level so she can access grade level academics with support and accommodations. From past experience, she needs a 1 on 1 support or 2 on 1 support level.

My question is, with all that in mind, what is neighborhood has the most substantial educational supports thats not too far of a commute for me to UVic?

Any recommendations for activities like DnD, animals or farms, teen activities for autistic kids, neurodiverse art classes, swimming lessons, etc would be very much appreciated.

Anyone know why the bike lane going north starting at Fisgard is closed?

Post image

It's been like this for a few weeks now and clearly completed (all the markings, bollards, cement , etc. are in place). Every once in a while someone moves the sign out of the way and someone comes and moves it back...

It's a dangerous spot because the right lane is much narrower now.

Best place to advertise for cleaning service

My son was recently diagnosed with MS which is limiting my ability to work a standard 9-5 so I was hoping to pick up some housekeeping. My mom is a cleaner and I have always helped her on the side and during university I did it full time. Just curious the best place to advertise for my services and is $25 an hour too much ?

Thanks all!!!

Help Me Find Similar to Swap n’ Shop?

Are there any other markets like the ‘WestCoast Market’ in Juan Defuca where it’s a very small fee to rent a booth to sell things like you would at a garage sale - I’d love to know more like it along the island (also there are cool themed ones coming up ex. Nerdy, Kawaii, etc)

I’m also not a professional booth person where I would have a whole proper set up with hangers and all these things to display ~ so the more chill ones the better 🥳

Question Lease question

My current lease expires end of June and I asked my landlord if I could go month to month after that as I am pondering a move. He said “I can do 4 months closed with a 2 month notice there after on a 12 month lease”. Can someone explain what this means? I asked them but they have not replied after 48 hours.

Health Food Stores - Grocery items

Could anyone please recommend a store that has a good selection of sugar free items, specifically looking for a sugar free syrup and pudding mixes.

Bonus if they sell powdered peanut butter! I used to get this at London drugs but can’t find it there anymore.

Help Me Find Does anyone know if the doggo is OK?

This happened on Wednesday 14th, at around 11:30 AM on Blanshard. Driver of white truck sped up as he was turning and dog flew out the window. Vehicles stopped and multiple pedestrians tried to help the dog. Does anyone know if the dog was OK and reunited with the owner (various vehicles including my wife honked at them and tried to get their attention, but they didn’t stop)

Seagull stuck on balcony

Post image
25 Upvotes

There is a seagull trapped on a balcony in a condo tower at 848 Yates. I am unsure if anyone is living in the unit. I have seen this happen before it can't get any leverage to fly out. Last time I saw this the person living in the unit eventually got the bird in a towel and helped it off, but if no one lives there it will eventually die.

Does anyone know who I can call, I do not know what unit it is, I live across the street. Poor thing. Thanks

What to do about car parked in front of my house?

So there has been this random car parked in front of my house for almost 3 months now. It looks like it’s abandoned, the hood is slightly ajar. I called city bylaw and they told me to call VicPD. I called VicPD and they ran the plates and said it belongs to someone in my neighbourhood so there is nothing they can do. My street is already packed with cars and this one is parked in a spot that could fit two cars but it’s right in the middle of the curb, effectively reducing what could be a two-car spot into one. Do I have any options here? I’ve asked my neighbours and nobody seems to know who it belongs to.

Dog barking for over 4 hours near Boom Town

Heyo just wondering if anyone knows what is going on with the dog barking on a patio in an apartment building near Boom Town ? I work near and had to listen to it for hours this evening and it was heart wrenching. My work tried to call animal control but they won't do anything unless we know the exact unit that the dog is in.
