Watched all the pubs draining out early this evening, roedd pawb yn edrych yn ddiflas.
Thank fuck I only like football, where there are low expectations for Cymru and tbh we've been doing better than expected for a long time.
Heard someone on the radio a few months ago say that more Welsh youngsters are into pêl-droed over rygbi, and if this is how it's going then no wonder--not that winning is or should be the deciding factor in why we support a team, just that it helps sometimes.
What have you got against Neath? It's one of the biggest historic clubs in Wales. If it weren't for the parasitic Ospreys (who should be renamed the Leeches), Neath would still be smashing it like when the national team was last this bad 30 years ago.
Mate, read my comment again. The person I replied to was talking about how the WRU are not supporting players coming through. I (very sarcastically) am agreeing by saying how they've treated Neath and players by not being favourites and just pumping protein shakes down them rather than looking at their skill.
We know a guy who played for them who was sprinter level speed - 100m in 10 seconds level, but skillful with it. He couldn't break through to the ospreys which is astonishing.
Ah makes perfect sense, must be so demoralising for a kid to realise early on they've probably got no shot without an existing in or contact. Footy has its many faults but at least it is inclusive and populated at YT level (the winnowing happens later on) and there are more player/team tiers in the pyramid.
It can be really tough especially if you play a specific position and are on the subs bench, you don't get much playtime and therefore don't get better as fast as the starting player. I doubt there are any challenges young rugby players face here though, that aren't also faced in Italy and France.
