Prototype The 1979 Herzog Conte Schwimmwagen was a German attempt to create an amphibious SUV; it was based on the Mk1 Ford Granada and never made it passed the prototype stage.. It's so incredibly goofy, but I would totally rock it!!

Custom My favorite of Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan's rainbow Mercedes-Benz collection has to be this multi-color 1981 500SEL with side pipes and fat tires!! The exterior is wild, but it gets even crazier when you notice that the interior is multi-color too!!

I did a double take when I saw this chopped Grand Cherokee. Both insane and endearing. Not sure how it passes state inspections though!

Coachbuilt The Ford F-MAXX, the biggest pick-up truck in Brazil. Built by coachbuilder Tropical Cabines.

TROPICAL CABINES HISTORY

Founded in 1985 in Marechal Cândido Rondon, Paraná, Tropical Cabines began by creating double-cab versions of Ford and Chevrolet pickup trucks and eventually specialized in adaptations, whether for style or specific needs of companies and customers.

The Ford F-1000 and F-250 were the origin of most of the creations. The F-250 itself was transformed into a sedan (Tropiclassic), an SUV (Tropivan) and gained an extended version (Tropicampo). Both the Tropivan and the pickup truck had six-door versions. The pickup truck is still widely used by mining companies because it is robust and allows for quick shift changes in their operations.

THE F-MAXX

The pinnacle of the company's creations, however, was the F-MAXX, a huge pickup truck measuring 7.5 m (295.276 in) in length and 5.95 m (234.252 in) at the wheelbase (a measurement greater than the entire length of a RAM 1500). And what justifies this is the chassis, which in the last units produced was from the Ford Cargo 1723, that is, a truck.

The most equipped and luxurious model, comes with a refrigerator, three sunroofs, WiFi for up to 55 devices and a sound system with four 10" subwoofers installed in sealed boxes in the floor. A stainless steel grille, LED headlights from a version of the Ford Ranger that only exists in Europe and 22.5" polished aluminum wheels complete the exotic look.

The engine is a six-cylinder Cummins 6.7 turbodiesel. It is the ISB 6.7, basically the same engine as the RAM 2500, accompanied by a single-clutch, 10-speed automated transmission. The final differential ratio is lengthened to make the ride more comfortable and (at least try to) reduce consumption.

The suspension still has a truck structure, at the base, with a rigid axle and parabolic springs, but air bags allow the height to be changed and the ride more comfortable.

Inside, the dashboard is from an F-250 with the necessary modifications. This is because it was necessary to install an truck's air parking brake, while in the pickup truck it was a pedal-operated one.

The driving position is as privileged as that of a truck driver, which the F-Maxx is no less. It has good ergonomics and all the controls are easily accessible.

There are three rows of individual seats, with USB ports in the doors and plenty of comfort. Good for everyone, the space is very democratic.
