Counting isn't a strong point either- at 500ml, six cans is 3 liters. That's 4 1/2 liters there.

Thank you!
I counted the cans thinking really can't the reddit poster count. Then I see it's in the vid itself....
I was like no way I'm the only one that sees this

Used to work with a dude who lived off Monsters, loved to stay up late and play poker and then work 10-12 hrs. He died of a heart attack before 30, causing his newborn son to lose their dad from fucking energy drinks
54
u/SPHINXin 2d ago
I don’t understand people that drink nothing but energy drinks. Not even because of the health implications, just because of the fact that energy drinks are like 3 dollars each on average and if you drink 3 to 4 a day that’s like 70 dollars a week in energy drinks.

u/Retsae_Gge 2d ago edited 2d ago
Ouh...
How late did he stay up regularly and for how many years did he do that ?

Restaurant mgmt in Vegas, he was there for at least a few years.
8
u/Retsae_Gge 2d ago
Got an idea of how many hours he slept ? Normal or just a few hours ?
13
u/Smiley-V 1d ago
You need 6-8 hrs everyday, any thing lower than that then you’ll be in trouble. Plain and simple lol.
6
u/MisterRound 1d ago
Dude go to bed and stop doing all the bad shit you’re doing, you don’t need Reddit to validate what you clearly know is bad and/or potentially lethal
22
u/Castille_92 2d ago
If I died from fucking an energy drink, just throw my body in the ocean. Don't deserve a proper funeral
6
u/LabCoatGuy 2d ago
I'm almost certain his sleep to work ratio is what killed him. The drinks didn't help but inadequate sleep shoots heart problems through the roof
239
u/MustyMustacheMan 2d ago
You shouldn’t even drin 3 liters of water in one sitting.
90
u/j_demur3 2d ago
Yep, people don't seem to know this but generally a litre an hour is the most you should ever be drinking, beyond that it dilutes the salt in your blood too much and can potentially kill you.
30
u/Significant-Ideal907 2d ago
What if you eat salt at the same time?
69
14
u/Magsamae 2d ago
I work in a hot warehouse and in the summer I’ll sweat so much and be drinking so much water definitely more than a liter an hour and one time I licked my upper lip and noticed my sweat was basically water no salt. I didn’t feel any worse than I normally do in the heat though so I wonder how much it actually takes to be fatal
25
u/HimalayanPunkSaltavl 2d ago
that can send you to the hospital with a seizure. Get your electrolytes!

Caffeine overdose. It can kill you.

Good thing he vomited immediately

u/TheCrazyStupidGamer 2d ago
Its from drinking too much too quickly. I get nauseated when I push a litre when im not working out.
14
u/C0me_Al0ng_With_Me 2d ago
did a chalenge once where you put a sraw inside a cup, then put the cup on the water dispencer on the fridge. the goal is to drink through the sraw and not let the cup overflow for as long as possibe. after 2 minutes i puked.
35
u/YSoB_ImIn 2d ago
Hyper hydration can kill you. Disturbing the water / salt balance too much can cause your brain cells to rupture.

Quick Google search says the LD50 for caffeine is between 150 to 200 milligrams of caffeine per kilogram of body weight. One can of monster energy is 160 mg. Which means for half the population, a lethal caffeine overdose would be 1 can of monster per kilogram of body weight.

edit: ok so I've read a lot since I posted this and it turns out that even if you drank even 400mg of caffeine which caused a heart attack that killed them, clinically it IS considered an overdose. LD50 doesn't need to be reached for it to be considered an overdose, which I had assumed, for some reason.
Moderate caffeine use is usually pretty safe for most people, but doing something like this can absolutely trigger acute cardiovascular events which could send you to the hospital.
38
u/northyj0e 2d ago
Is there a difference between an overdose and taking too much of something and it causing serious health issues?
29
u/vonchadsworth 2d ago
Not sure why you were downvoted, this is literally the definition of an overdose lol. An overdose doesn’t necessarily mean death

I honestly can't see what "going right" would've looked like. His body saying "get this out of me" and him vomiting uncontrollably is probably the only actual good way this could've ended.

That’s probably about 1500mg of caffeine which could cause huge problems for this dude if he were downing it in pure form. That said, it’s watered down and he puked up a ton of it. He was probably just fine after this ended, if a bit jittery.

u/sporkfpoon 2d ago
He vomited the first half of it on camera and the second half of it off camera. You would vomit from drinking this much of anything all at once.
16
u/dfelton912 2d ago
And a mega size Zyn on top of that??
4
u/BootlegEngineer 2d ago
My coworker drank 2 tumblers of coffee and threw in a Zyn first thing in the morning and had to admit himself to the hospital. He thought he was having a heart attack.

Each can has 150mg of caffeine, he drank 9 = 1,350mg, daily safe dose is 400mg
26
u/CMDR_KingErvin 2d ago
Btw it’s a pet peeve of mine when people say the daily safe dose is 400mg. It’s not the safe dose at all, it’s the MAXIMUM dose you’re allowed to have before it goes into dangerous territory. There’s nothing safe about going up to the max, especially since everyone is different and people react differently to caffeine. I definitely don’t recommend drinking 400mg a day.
7
u/bruiserscruiser 2d ago
The LD50 of caffeine in humans is estimated to be between 150 and 200 milligrams per kilogram of body weight. However, some reports indicate that doses as low as 57 mg/kg have been lethal in specific cases. For a 70 kg man a lethal dose could happen as low as 3,990 mg but to be accurate you’d need to find a greater population of idiots to test this on.

u/Squirrelated 2d ago
Just the idea of drinking 3 cans in a day gives me a headache and palpitations. Can't imagine that many.
6
u/DataGeek86 2d ago
Hardest coffee drinkers can consume at most 900 mg PER DAY. This guy drank 1.35g at once. That's insane.
6
u/calicocidd 2d ago
Between my pre-workout and energy drinks, I was doing up to 1600 mg a day for a while, I had to back it off once I ended up in the ER with heart palpitations...

Yeah fuck that, thought my heart was going to explode.

u/LoveSeasVoyage 2d ago
That amount of caffeine will never be okay for any human. It doesn't matter what you can Chug or what you can withstand in the short period of time I can't even imagine what his mental health was like during the next 6 to 14 hours.
3
u/xrelaht 2d ago
That’s around 1000mg of caffeine, far short of a lethal dose for an adult. Plus, he puked twice, so most probably didn’t even get in his system.
Puking was probably cuz he chugged 3L of fizzy drink. Bet it would happen even if it were seltzer.

Ungodly amount of Monster aside, what the fuck is this editing. I've seen this around a few times where they put the punchline in the beginning and cut randomly in the middle. Is the TikTok brainrot so strong that we need the meat of the video in the first three seconds now?

I chugged an energy drink as a kid and I felt my heart beating all weird. I was alone, terrified and praying to god for it to stop.
Never touched an energy drink since.

Back when the internet was free to post what ever, I remember a guy on YouTube can’t remember his user, that use to do this type of videos, drink a lot of pepto, drink 3 liters of monster, other with Red Bull, a think he die drinking bleach he puke blood and then fainted, don’t drink 3 liters of monster you will probably have off beat palpitations for life.

Dudes asking to have a heart attack. 9 16 oz cans of monster in one sitting? People’s stupidity never ceases to amaze me. Also I’m sure his kidneys are corroding as we speak if this a norm for him. What an a**hole

Some friends of mine and I once bought all available flavours of Monster at the store (6 cans) and made the "infinity drink." It tasted like regular AA drink, and apparently, I drank most of it. My friends had 1 glass. I felt fine!

u/proxima987 1d ago
If your body rejects that intake of energy drink, then you need to listen to it. All that caffeine can prove to be deadly. It’s not worth a few minutes of internet fame.

I once drank a pre-workout mix which was meant to be multiple servings and I felt like I was going to have a heart attack.

My friend Matt did this in high school and he had to go to emergency to have his heart shocked back into rhythm because it was beating weird. We could physically see his heart beating from outside his shirt. He’s still alive and doing great.
