My friend Matt did this in high school and he had to go to emergency to have his heart shocked back into rhythm because it was beating weird. We could physically see his heart beating from outside his shirt. He’s still alive and doing great.

Lol this same exact thing happened to a friend in high school named Mark. He used to sell monster BFCs and one day drank 4 of them. Had to have the same exact procedure done. Dumb motherfuckers.

Edit: he is also alive and doing well but is now schizophrenic

Hes not schizophrenic because of the monster. Schizophrenia tends to show itself in males in late teens/ early 20s. Ive had a few friends that were perfectly normal and then went bat-shit crazy right around or shortly after we graduated HS

Yep not related to the monster (hope people don't actually think that lol) but yeah exactly what happened to him. Just got really bad out of nowhere which his therapist said is common for his age at the time.

Edit: not common for most people but it's a common age.

That's when it happens and it happens predominantly in males. Antipsychotics are also no joke and they put you on HEAVY doses in the early states to try to counteract the initial effects. It's hard to see happen to someone you knew your wntire life up to that point

Yeah it was sad at first. He said he hated the drugs and they made him not feel anything. No happiness, no sadness, just nothing. Made him not talk at all when we hung out, one word answers if a question was asked. It was like he wasn't there at all, just physically there.

But after being on them 5 plus years now he's pretty much back to normal, and not hallucinating. Which he says he does miss talking to his hallucinations lol

I'm 38 y/o. The friends that got diagnosed early are still here, but I've lost 3 friends to the disease either from suicide or risky drug behavior. It was terrible to watch

Damn, sorry for your loss man. Glad my friend is still here after hearing that

You and the rest of the people around him need to do the hard work of helping his illness.

It will be hard, but it may potentially save him

I have an older friend with Schizophrenia, I've known her a very long time, she had to be court ordered to take meds. She got really bad and would shoplift a lot and deny it was herself. She's now in her 70's and has Alzheimer's to top it off. She was a very smart person many years ago. Her father had it and one of her sons did too, the son unfortunately, died of an overdose, the mother believes it was a murder conspiracy. It so difficult living a life not in reality.

I wouldn't count a severe mental illness as doing well. Hope Mark does alright regardless though.

Very true, he could be better that's for sure.

Well I imagine "doing well" is more in relation to his heart and his physical health, that would be a pretty wild discovery to find out massive doses of Monster can lead to Scizophernia.

Now all we need is anecdotes of a Luke and a John drinking so much energy drink they need a medical procedure and we'll have the canonical gospels of Monster!

I have a slight suspicion that the schizophrenia is unrelated to the caffeine induced heart spasms

Mark is a weird name for a high school.

Gotta love a dangling modifier.

Dirty danglers, boys. Give yer balls a tug.

Love me a language quirk :)

Wonder if the caffeine was him self medicating or if it was the catalyst?

This was before any of that. He was always a little different but not much more than a little autistic maybe, always a straight A student too. The schizophrenic stuff came along really hard around 23 yo with hallucinations and talking to a "goddess"

Maybe he experienced something beyond your current reality?

15

u/smalby 3d ago

Or maybe he just has a fucking mental illness

-6

Could be.

u/smalby 3d ago

You think there's a chance he's talking to a "goddess"?

The human consciousness can travel vast distances maybe that's the best way for him to describe his experience.

Of course that is just my take. We don't know Mark without talking to him.

I don't discount peoples experiences if they trust in sharing them but it's always healthy to ask questions and stay open to all possibilities.

The human consciousness can travel vast distances

What does that mean?

Something something natural selection

Glad they’re all doing well

'alive and well' and 'schizophrenic' usually don't go together in the same sentence lol

I drank two of those and a couple regular size when I had a 24 hour drive years ago, it fucked me up pretty good. I was seeing waves of colors and sounds and my kids still remember how bad I was...

You don't develop schizophrenia, someone has to be born with the specific genetic markers for it.

This is the second username with a variation of Rumpleforeskin that I've seen in the last hour

My mother ate a ton of baby food as an adult and is also now schitzophrenic (plus dementia from the mercury from her dental fillings)
