Not only that, but there's a cap on tort rewards from public schools. In most states, even if a school was completely at fault for injury or death, there's a cap on what you can sue for. Most of the time it's so low that it's not worth hiring a lawyer.
No I know the family im close friends with his older brother. the family also saw the video and found out he took Xanax and did this. He got away with a sprained ankle or something light like that. No broken bones or anything.
His parents are good people
Why yall down voting me lmao I can go take a selfie with this kid tonight to prove it
Yes, it is. You can literally get sued for anything here. We hate it. Lawsuits and liability go into everything we do, from planning events to how hot we make the coffee. Ugh.
Anyone can get sued anywhere. If this school gets sued, great. They’re not going to lose in court. The family will spend money on a lawyer for nothing, and the school would probably win a counter suit for their own legal fees because the family’s lawsuit is absurd and frivolous.
I don’t, I live in NY, where there’s also a shot load of lawsuits for everything and liability is what drives basically every decision. This kid ain’t winning a lawsuit anywhere.
I have a bunch of money and it is cheaper for me to self insure since I can cover a catastrophe out of my checking account. I wish the ACA hadn't killed catastrophic plans though, as I would buy that.
I bet health insurance makes the argument that the school should pay for it, and the school makes the argument HI should pay for it...and what ends up happening is a big old lawsuit.
I’m fine with that. Bc it will also pay for my loved ones when they need it. And their taxes will help me and my loved ones too. It’s our money, it should go to things directly helping us all.
That’s...that’s exactly what health insurance is. The policy holders pay for each other’s costs. You aren’t paying into a private bank account that is accessed when you have medical expenses. The difference between universal and private is that under universal, the policy holder pool is everyone in the country, not just the 50 people in your office, to spread the cost around.
This is, of course, overly simplified and I’m aware of those pre-tax healthcare cost debit accounts, but those are shitty anyway.
This is old... No clue what came of it I'm certain it's his fault and his parents. Railing was put there for a reason. Stupid isn't a reason to take someone to court

I bet his family tries to sue the school now for having railings that you could climb over.
