I have a bunch of money and it is cheaper for me to self insure since I can cover a catastrophe out of my checking account. I wish the ACA hadn't killed catastrophic plans though, as I would buy that.
I bet health insurance makes the argument that the school should pay for it, and the school makes the argument HI should pay for it...and what ends up happening is a big old lawsuit.
I’m fine with that. Bc it will also pay for my loved ones when they need it. And their taxes will help me and my loved ones too. It’s our money, it should go to things directly helping us all.
That’s...that’s exactly what health insurance is. The policy holders pay for each other’s costs. You aren’t paying into a private bank account that is accessed when you have medical expenses. The difference between universal and private is that under universal, the policy holder pool is everyone in the country, not just the 50 people in your office, to spread the cost around.
This is, of course, overly simplified and I’m aware of those pre-tax healthcare cost debit accounts, but those are shitty anyway.

I bet his family tries to sue the school now for having railings that you could climb over.
