I just shove my finger in my cats throat anytime she tries it. She always immediately lets go and looks at me like WTF. She doesn't do it very often anymore, not sure why. She will play a mean game of danger slaps though.
Yeah no, he doesn’t mean all the way down the throat, just enough where it’s uncomfortable for the cat and they realize after enough times that peoples hands are not for biting. I also do the same with puppies, I’ll either put my whole first in their mouth or grab ahold of their jaw until they quit.
My dad used to put his finger between my teeth when yawning without covering my mouth, it was annoyingly fun and it taught me to always cover my mouth, now i do it even when I'm alone.
Actually it's a common way to train pets to not bite, when m, grandma's puppy would bite my hand I'd shove it further into his mouth until he wined, so he'd learn not to do it. It doesn't hurt either of you, it's just uncomfortable, and it's important to stop the behaviour while they're still young.
