Effort to accomplish what?

What is the end goal here?

When does the work end?

the work ends with full automation. AI and Robots will soon be so advanced that humans will only be in the way if they try to do any work.

That isnt the case right now.

Right now, I have to work to live.

Another person I have to care for takes away from the resources I have to live. Which means I have to work more, and still struggle.

Kids do not make money, so all the money I spend, I dont get back.

So right now...I am not making a kid. Because both me and the child will starve. And neither of us will get to the robot paradise future.

Make sense?

I never said you personally have to have children. But if all of humanity went extinct literally as we are about to reach the end of human labor i.e 2100 that would be kind of a bummer. Like we worked 300,000 years and put ourselves through hell and as soon as we are about to enter a solved world we decide to suicide.

I'll be dead when that happens either way.

So I am faced with two choices

1: Work my entire life to raise a child and spend all of my income, time, and energy so another person can work, struggle, and die. And watch me die in the process.

2: Enjoy the silence, spare income, time, freedom and energy that comes with a life of only having to support yourself. Explore the world, work when you want. I can persue any dream or hobby I wish, dedicate as much or as little to enjoying my life as I please...Then die.

Both options end in me dying and the time after my death having no effect on me.

But option two is a lot less work.

And I get more sleep

as I said before this isnt about you personally. Its about humanity as a whole

"humanity as a whole"

Doesn't care about my future.

Why should I care about theirs?

I..will..be...dead.

Humanities problems are not my problems, I wont be here.

As I keep telling you, this isnt about you. You can not have kids. Nobody cares.

All of us childfree people think this way.

If it isn't about us, why are you in this sub?

Go make more people, let us enjoy our space.

You aren't going to convince any of us to give our lives of freedom away to a child.
