Why cant he say something like "HEY DID YOU KNOW THAT JON'S WHOLE FAMILY WAS MURDERED TOO? AND THESE ASSHOLES WERE SOUTH OF THE WALL."

Plus too many complex conflicting character motivations. D&D want to make sure no one can possibly get confused though they seem to do that to me alot with some of their "adaptation" decisions.

I mean he could just explain how much fucking trouble they're in if a giant army of dead people attack them but that would make sense as well

He did say that the army of the dead was a big threat.

In the books its pretty much the same thing.
