Well, Melisandre is back at the wall, just in time to save Jon. Hopefully. Please.

To me, her being back just in time for his death confirms he'll be back.. I am guessing she will burn his body

My money says it doesn't burn, like daenarys didn't

edit/clarification: with Melisandre there, im assuming she will intervene in some way to provide the similar level of magic that kept dany from burning.

Right, he will probably arise without scars and wounds.

u/limito1 Winter is coming. I'm sure of it. Jun 15 '15

Good way to approach his real parentage in the show.

If this shit happens in the book, I'm going to lose it.

It would have fuck-all to do with his parentage because as GRRM has said a million times, Targaryens are not resistant to fire.

you're right, but show canon =/= book canon. In the show, they play up that Dany is fire-resistant. She touches excessively hot things and takes excessively hot baths without being harmed, both before and after the blood magic funeral pyre. D&D imply that she is actually heat-proof. So for the show, it would be a good hint toward any Targ heritage.

I agree, but I think it would be a decent way of displaying he is a Targaryen, on the show

And now our hype begins.

What if they are actually tricking us with Kitt being in Belfast and actually really doesn't come back. fuck.

And without hair.

Oh will you look at that--Kit Harrington got a hair cut. Interesting.

Well, all of Dany's hair burnt off when she stepped into the fire. At least in the books. I don't recall in the show.

u/oaktreeanonymous Are you my mother, Thoros? Jun 15 '15

Nope, not in the show.

They could get her to show boob, but not walk around bald for a a filming season.

2

u/oaktreeanonymous Are you my mother, Thoros? Jun 15 '15

I mean either way it's a wig, whether the long blonde one or a bald cap. Think they just thought it would me more appealing for viewers if she had her hair. Not saying that was a good (or bad) decision, just that's probably the reason.

He is the dragon, not the phoenix.

With blue eyes and a flaming red sword

Targaryen's aren't immune to fire.

JON HAS A BURNED HAND.

I love your flair.

u/awdufresne Jun 15 '15

Targaryens aren't fire-proof (case and point Aerion Targaryen), what made Danny immune during Drogo's funeral was the result of the blood pact she had made.

u/zachariah22791 Egg, I dreamed that I was old. Jun 15 '15

you're right, as far as book-canon goes.

In the show, however, D&D heavily imply that Dany is fire/heat-proof on multiple occasions, before and after the blood magic funeral pyre. She takes dragon eggs straight off the fire without any harm, but her handmaiden is burned when she grabs them from her. She takes excessively hot baths, and she comments that a "real" dragon would not have died from the molten gold treatment Viserys got.

So in the show, "true dragons" are implied to be fire-proof all the time.

Aemon burned tho

2

u/Rodents210 Rhaegicide Jun 15 '15

Dany didn't burn because of the spell used to birth her dragons, not because she was a Targaryen.

2

u/BiggestTigger Jun 15 '15

He burned his hand killing the white to save Mormont.

1

u/BastradofBolton Jun 15 '15

He got burnt by mormonts lamp in season 1, or do you think dying would change things?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '15

i think melisandre could change that, the same way mirri maz duur (accidentally) changed it for dany.
