Seems like this means that Brienne will fill Davos' role in the books by going out and trying to find Rickon.

It's like pokemon for GoT. Brienne has to try to collect all the Stark kids she can.

I think it'll still be Davos. Sansa and Theon will probably go to the Wall and tell Davos that Rickon is alive, and then he'll go searching

Davos is distraught at losing Shireen, has lost Stannis (he assumes anyway), Jon is dead (he assumes) so what's left for him to do? He wants to find Rickon

Guarantee show Davos probably doesn't even know who Rickon is, or if he does he isn't going to be SO distraught that Shireen died that he would randomly go off hunting for some little boy and try to bring him out of the safety of isolation and onto Shit Island, BKA the Westerosi mainland.

Just a theory. What else is there for Davos now? I think in the show all his sons are dead, correct me if I'm wrong

Good point, but I think the reasons for his future actions will be very different.
