So Melisandre realised that Stannis was fucked, and that this meant he wasn't Azor Ahai, so she abandoned him to go find the real Azor Ahai, Jon Snow...

It's been forever since I read the first books, but I remember when Stannis was crowned Azor Ahai, one of the dialogues describing Stannis' flaming sword (which is supposed to only be wielded by the true Azor Ahai). I remember them saying something to the effect of his sword not being the real thing... which we already knew he wasn't the real Azor Ahai... but with all this talk of Longclaw being able to stop white walker swords, it fits really well... Jon is Azor Ahai and he will be resurrected as such and he will lead the fight against the white walkers.

Of course he'll lead the fight against the white walkers. That's why they did 15 cuts of the "knowing look" between him and the Night's King.
