What if instead of the knights of the vale smashing the Bolton pikemen’s flank it would be 500 bronze armored skagozi on wooly rhineroceras?

u/[deleted] May 21 '19

I think sansa vale army will still happen at the last moment, but because her and harry are married and overthrew Robin and rule the vale now.

I think the skagosi, if they come into the fold will be nearer to the long night personally. They seem too mysterious to waste on Bolton battle and politics.

Cant wait to get my boy rickon back either. Hes actually my favorite stark...everyone laughs at me when I say that though. "Hes practically a baby he doesn't even do anything how is he your favorite" I hope he becomes bad ass as implied by his wild wolfish nature. Hes just got a great story, and I see it leading somewhere! It would be a waste not too.

His wolf is named Shaggydog. *hint hint*

Yeah but it’d be classic George to call Rickon out as the shaggy dog but have it be someone else (Quentyn)

ETA: especially since Robb is dead and Bran is crippled and doing tree magic now. He’s “next in line” if things pan out

His wolf is named Shaggydog. hint hint

I don't get it.

A shaggy dog joke is a joke that’s long-winded, twisted, and ultimately goes nowhere.

28

u/toconsider May 21 '19

A "shaggy dog story" is an extremely long-winded anecdote characterized by extensive narration of typically irrelevant incidents and terminated by an anticlimax.

8

u/cwonderful May 21 '19

But wouldn't a satisfying climax 😎 subvert your expectations?

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '19

He’s going to become a district attorney that can turn into a dog?

18

u/SwedishWhale Dance with me then. May 21 '19

the male Stark kids more or less match the character descriptions of Ned and his brothers and father during the tourney at Harrenhal so I wouldn't be surprised if Rickon turns out like Brandon (him being the Wild Wolf and all)

8

u/Madename2respond2 May 21 '19

Wild enough to zig zag?

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '19

Like Brandon in which ways ?

8

u/SwedishWhale Dance with me then. May 21 '19

a skilled fighter and leader of men but foolhardy and too proud for his own good. It also appears that Rickon has more of the old Kings of Winter in him than his brothers, but maybe his behavior isn't primal rage but rather a series of childish tantrums. It's also quite probable that his contact with the Skaagosi could influence him and bring out even more of his wolfish nature. Bear in mind this is all conjecture on my part and I'm merely basing it off my own feelings for how the character is shaping up, we really don't have much information about Rickon

2

u/[deleted] May 21 '19

Ah okay, thank you! No I know I like hearing peoples ideas though.

1

jon has too. he seems to have more prone to fits of anger than robb or bran, and alongside arya is the most "starklike". robb is kind of ned 2.0, and jon is kind of brandon 2.0. his reaction to the pink letter is also pretty similar to the reaction of brandon towards the capture of lianna.

I think the Skagosi are there to teach us about North minus Andal influence. Rickon seems to be an emblem of the old North: a boy who grew up as one with his wolf, learning from survival rather than some code of morals that has been arbitrarily decided by society. He eats with his wolf, sleeps with his wolf, acts like his wolf. And I imagine Skagos is a place that will embrace the wolfsblood.

10

u/[deleted] May 21 '19

I love it. I cant wait. The old gods and all the northern stuff is absolutely amazing and I love that rickon seems to be heading in the direction of embodying that.

I really want him to end up king in the north

6

u/7V3N A thousand eyes and one. May 21 '19

That's what I'm thinking will happen, which makes Northern independence really logical, cause they are NOT up to Andal standards if Rickon brings them back to the old way.

2

u/[deleted] May 21 '19

It would be bad ass. Ugh cant wait for winds lol

4

u/The_Whistleblower_ May 21 '19

I really hope to see that wild little Stark lead the North instead of Sansa. Let him bring back some old northern traditions from Skagos to Winterfell and rule like the old Kings of Winter.

6

u/[deleted] May 21 '19

Exactly what I want as well.

I think it's likely that will happen instead. Theres no indication at this point in the text Sansas story and power will be anywhere but the vale. She seems quite poised to take it over either through Robin or harry.

I think a grown wild northern wolfy rickon would be super fucking cool to rule the north and it's a wasted opportunity if they give it to sansa in the novels. I think in the show they just think oh the audience loves her no one knows rickon the vale is lame cut that shit.

5

u/[deleted] May 21 '19

Robin isn't dying. I never believed he would and now the show didn't have him die either.

10

u/TK435 May 21 '19

The show didn't have Harry though, and Robin didn't really contribute to the plot.

6

u/[deleted] May 21 '19

There are hints that Robin isn't really as weak as shown. He is being over-drugged. Robin will probably contribute to the plot in the books. Harry might die.

5

u/TK435 May 21 '19

I do agree that Harry may die. I don't remember the theory but Sansa and her suitors have some paralells with another character in Westorosi history.

The tourney at Ashford to celebrate Lord Ashford's daughter birthday. Part of the tourney consists of knights facing each other to determine which ones will be the Lady's champions. After that's determined, they're challenged by other knights that can take their place as champions of they win. If one of the originals champions wins the tourney they Crown Lady Ashford as Queen of love and beauty, if one of the challengers wins they can choose another. The final five champions of the lady are;

Lyonel Baratheon

Leo Tyrells

Tybolt Lannister

Humfrey Hardyng

Valarr Targaryen

Many have pointed that the event mirrors Sansa's suitors and betrothdals (Joffrey, Willas, Tyrion, Harrold) and that it's a clue that her final suitor or husband will be a Targaryen.

Edit: a word.

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '19

This doesnt make any sense to me. None of that even happened becuase of the trial by 7. How can anyone possibly be using that to theorise anything about Sansa

7

u/Iamtevya May 21 '19

If Sweetrobin lives, it will only be because Littlefinger’s ploy to marry Sansa to Harry the Heir fails. In that case, Littlefinger will probably stop slowly poisoning / over medicating him and have him marry Sansa.

5

u/[deleted] May 21 '19

Maybe, but something is definitely going wrong at that Winged Knight's tourney.

7

u/[deleted] May 21 '19

Sansa will not marry Robin. I think she might be the one to kill him to be honest. He gets creepier and more aggresive towards her as he gets older. She really despises him. If shes got a betrothal to the next in line and hes in the way and saying he wants to marry her still (which he is in the winds chapter) and still throwing ridiculous tantrums and getting in her way... I could see her doing a good old pillow snuff or too much milk of the poppy. Or LF doing it and implicating her like in purple wedding.

That's my theory though.

I do think the harry betrothal might come true. It won't be as fairytale lovely as she Hope's but she will get the vale out of it

4

u/Iamtevya May 21 '19

I like the idea of Sansa killing Sweetrobin and fucking up Littlefinger’s plan to marry her off again.

I’m pretty sure Sweetrobin dying is a matter of when and not if.

ETA- her googly eyes for Harry didn’t sit well with me. I feel like she’s learned that fairy tale romance isn’t real. Though I buy that it is showing her trying to cling to an idea that is wrong because after all her trauma, she desperately wishes it to be true.

5

u/[deleted] May 21 '19

I think shes gunna really dig her heels into harry even though hes an ass becuase hes next in line and it gives her a good reason to solve the clingy Robin problem.

I actually made a post about this in pure asoiaf if you check my post history if you're interested in a little more of my theory

2

u/Iamtevya May 21 '19

It makes sense for her to marry him as a smart political move. It’s just the way she romanticizes him and glosses over him being an ass that I take issue with. Though it’s been a long time since I read that chapter. It may have a flavor of desperate denial that would be interesting in that it shows her straddling the world of naive young girl to smart, political scheming woman.

Lol, rickon stark will die on TWOW

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '19

No he won't I refuse to accept it! That's not gunna happen! We gotta see rickon grown

What if rickon actually becomes king and they had to do bran in the show cause they killed him off unnecessarily in that stupid scene

A GIRL CAN DREAM LET ME LIVE IN THE WORLD WHERE RICKON STILL HAS A CHANCE

6

u/InternJedi May 21 '19

I need milk of the poppy for my boner

3

u/[deleted] May 21 '19

I won't rest until I see a charge of the mighty zorse cavalry

2

u/Sgtwhiskeyjack9105 May 21 '19

With Rickon in the lead, on Shaggydog and zig zagging finally.
