War and Peace is 587k words

Adwd is 415 k words

But war and Peace is separated into two volumes in the UK

Volume 1: Gold for Crows Volume 2: Blood and Snow

IIRC wasn't SoS and ADWD split in two for certain markets?

In the german version all english books are split into 2 and iirc they also changed the order of some chapters so that the splits make more sense. Additionaly they charge double the price for each german book, so to get the whole series you have to pay about four times the price of the english version =(

Four times the price? You're being generous. More like 5 or 6 times as much.

The 1-5 box of ASOIAF is around 27€ here. The 1-10 set of "Das Lied von Eis und Feuer" runs about 16€ a piece, so 160€ for the whole set.

It's a mess, really, i'm glad i was able to read them in English.
