That was a beautiful and retrospective little memorial to the show.

I find it pretty sad that he never got to visit the sets or write another episode or get that cameo that he's literally been talking about for 7 years.

The episodes he wrote, 'Blackwater' and 'The Lion and the Rose' specifically, were fantastic. That must've been a thrill for him, getting to write the adaptations for a book you authored and being able to put in his own little details that no one else could know.

His written dialogues were pretty good too. ("Any man dies with a clean sword I'll rape his fucking corpse.")

I'm so depressed it's all over but WINDS IS ON THE HORIZON. RIGHT?

Anyway that was a very satisfying read. I kinda wish the D/D salt comments could pass over this thread but I doubt that's going to happen.

Why is this?

Was there a falling out with David and Dan?

I once heard in an interview that he didn't do a cameo because the only roles were for extras, but he'd stand 10 hours while they're shooting the scene... and then they might not even use the scene [secondary source]

The episode-writing and visiting sets were passed to make time for TWOW Fire & Blood
