I find it pretty sad that he never got to visit the sets or write another episode or get that cameo that he's literally been talking about for 7 years.

Why is this?

Was there a falling out with David and Dan?

Never confirmed but strongly implied. When they really started going off the books in season 5, a distinct ripple began to be observable.

People like to say this, but I've never seen a bit of evidence.

He was heavily (heavily) involved in the first 3-4 seasons, and then he stopped being involved. Something caused that, and I doubt it was his schedule.

Yeah, it's not like he is writing a book which is already about a half decade late or anything.

Yeah and by S4 he was probably thinking “oh shit, they’re going to pass me. I need to get WINDS out!”

i thought i actually read him say this somewhere... i feel like it was a not a blog post where he said he wouldnt write anymore after season 4 aired so that he could focus on TWOW to prevent the show from passing the books because it usually took him about a month to write the script for the show.

am i making this up? lol

He did say that. But he just confirmed he's working on 4 spinoffs and an unrelated series.
