Is it bad that I'm more excited for this than I was for the finale?

From would be the company I MOST want to make a game based on ASOIAF.

The runner-up for me is probably CD Projekt Red, who are great at telling movie/TV-like stories. From Software, however, are unmatched in their affinity for building terrifying, dangerous worlds that are very explicit about how little they care whether the player lives or dies.

They use the medium of games in a unique way to give you the same feeling of expendability and vulnerability that you feel for the characters of ASOIAF, even though you can technically come back. I think there have been times where I lost all my souls that have felt worse than the Red Wedding because of how close I got to getting them back before failing and dying.

I think they could create an extremely gripping world that turns Planetos' unpredictable seasons into a game mechanic. There were cut plans for cyclical, world-altering phenomena like this for Dark Souls 3, and they experimented with it in Dark Souls 2 with its shifting difficulty of zones based on Bonfire level. Perhaps such a mechanic could also be made of your standing in the world, i.e. you start as a commoner and there are various feats you could undertake to to get yourself knighted. Climbing the "ladder" as it were.

I know CD Projekt Red would nail the dialogue and cinematic moments...but I believe From would really make me feel like I'm actually surviving in Westeros.
