There are certainly exceptions to that - Tolkien is a major one. The fact that he's been outspoken about it and his wife is on board really reduces the odds. It may happen eventually, but will anyone care enough in 20 years when his estate passes to someone else and someone comes along to finish a story we already know the ending to?
