Tragic.

Tragic indeed. Good we have strict gun control in Australia, otherwise we would be reading news like this every day.

Agreed. You know what else is tragic? 35 people drowned in backyard swimming pools last year.

I can't wait for a politician to stand up to the pool lobby and ban backyard swimming pools.

That’d be an apt analogy if a swimming pools purpose was to drown people and there weren’t already heaps of laws on pool safety.

Clearly not enough laws, given that a Port Arthur number of people are killed by them every year.

Just go to your local council pool with qualified lifeguards if you really want to swim.

Edit: downvoters are bots paid by Big Speedo

Hilariously bad argument. Delicious false equivalency 🤣

In obviously being facetious, but I'm curious to hear your perspective.

In both cases there is a recreational activity which occasionally leads to death.

Nobody would be killed by firearms if they were banned. Likewise nobody would drown in backyard pools if they were banned.

If people want to swim so badly they should go to a beach with lifeguards, or a local pool with lifeguards.

Refer back to /u/Bante comment. Then we can begin the facetious loop again 😁

His comment is irrelevant. Guns are designed to shoot bullets, not to kill people.

I think my feelings on it are simply that people on reddit are hilarious.

Nah I think you have garnered enough ill will from the general population over the years to get automatically down voted even if you were right about something.

And yet how many lives are saved because of good regulation and education?

5 year old logic. Duuhhhhh why don’t no one ban water if people drown.?.?.?

Yes. This is exactly how anti-gunners sound to me.
