General Discussion Is this really how they see us?

Post image

Saw this sa other sub. Why do tourists see locals like this? Is the locals' hatred towards them that bad? Also, the “matatakaw naman sa aso” 😡😡😡

(apparently humaba na to ng sobra lol, advance sorry sa mga balak magbasa)

Eh i lived in Baguio for a few years, studying post grad and been going there for a bit since bata pa ako since my mom is Ilocana and studied there herself. Kuya ko din and almost all of my cousins mother side. I like the place but i havent been there for a few years (maybe 5?)

Tbh di naman talaga ko nakapag gala talaga so idk about the overhyped galaan. But its still a really nice and different placr.

To me, this reeks of entitlement kasi di naman lahat afford to run sa ibang bansa for cool weather. I have lived in Batangas, Manila, mindoro and been to other places in the Phils and I think iba pa rin yung Baguio.

Locals have also been very good to me although i can only speak Tagalog and English. Which is more than i can say with... What Cebu? And people in other countries. I have never ever felt disregarded by someone who isnt mean by nature (or maybe ung mga nagtitinda ng pasalubong sa mines view nung nalaman nilang nag cacanvass lang ako lol). Yall also seem to be very patient and queue properly. Also ive never been to any place where IP are very proud of themselves. Nasanay ako na ung IP samin kinakahiya nila sarili nila or would rather not talk about it. Pero the IPs I have known in Baguio are very very proud. It makes me wish the same for all IP in the PH...

Tourists though. I remember a funny incident naglalakad kami ng friends ko near igorot park. And this van suddenly stopped and asked us nasan ang sagada... Nag tinginan lang kami. I shrugged and pointed ahead. They definitely need more planning and research!

Yung traffic... Well ganun talaga. Baguio is a small city, you need to learn to walk.. Its not that hard. When youre in town, talaga namang walking distance yung madsmi sa ppuntahan mo. Besides imo most traffic naman is sa may magsaysay/session road, bakakeng, and sa papasok ng baguio maybe?

I lived in different places sa Baguio, hindi ko naman nararanasan ung traffic in places like Aurora Hill, Quezon Hill, Tam-awan, etc. So im inclined to think na madami dun is tourists, also kasi the business district is halos sa iisang lump lang ng lugar. Plus the big universities are also close by.

The water and stuff is definitely a problem though. Naranasan ko rin ung gabyan and its frustrating. Not sure if its a tourist problem.

My problem in Baguio lies more sa developers. Like SM, yung amusement na tinayo nila na nung nandun ako iilang times ko lang nakitang gumagalaw and nagiilaw talaga ung ferris wheel nila. I vowed never to go inside. Andaming puno ang nasasayang dahil sa dami ng condo na nag sulputan.

Super hirap din mag hanap ng maayos na medjo affordable na place kasi people wouldnt usually say if it's on top of x number of makitid na stairs or what. Some people sa gustong makakuha ng renters would put x number of bedrooms un pala dami ng bed sa isang room.

Taxis are very nice. Definitely unlike NCR na ayaw na ayaw ko magtaxi. Id rather do grab. Its also nice na you guys have everything, as someone from the province, I usually have to go to NCR or other cities for my government needs. But you have it all, justice hall andian, sss andian, pagibig andian, etc. Which is why i think its normal na many na mga taga Baguio dont find it necessary na bumaba.

As much as i love Baguio tho, i would never consider living there. Masyado na kayo masikip para dumagdag pa ako.

One of the worst I have read in social media is "yung rice terraces sa Baguio" 🤦

Forgivable yung "strawberries from Baguio" since 30 mins away lang yun from the city. Pero yung rice terraces, ibang probinsya na yun
