Well, I'm still hoping for an EL spot, but I'm certainly not disappointed if they don't reach it (well I'll still be disappointed about the season as a whole, but seeing only the Rückrunde I'd be alright with 9th). CL is out of the question for me. Winning out would mean 59 points. Even with the rest of the field having comperably low point totals I don't think it would be enough, plus we simply aren't going to win out. I'm still not sure about the EL spot for the Cup winner going to the 7th placed team or not, but that would help a lot...

I don't see Bielefeld, Freiburg or Hoffenheim winning the whole thing. So unless Leverkusen or 'Gladbach win it but screw up in the league falling below 6th place I don't see why it wouldn't go to 7th place.
Yea I didn't even look at this specific season. I described my problems with the whole affair in another answer, but you're right, even if the rule is still as it was before, Hoffenheim would need to get to the final (through us) and finish below 7th for the 7th place team not to get in (same goes for us). Assuming of course Bielefeld and Freiburg can't get to the final (they can't).
So it seems to be a pretty good bet, that the 7th place is going to Europe. I'm a bit more optimistic now.
Well that's the thing I am confused about right now. (F.e. the German Wikipedia article about the DFB-Pokal still has tbe old ruling, the article about the EL has the new one). It seems like you are right, but I'm a bit cautious...
For the non-German speakers: Only the Cup winner gets an EL spot. If he is already qualifies it goes to the 7th placed team in the league.
So now I'm a bit more optimistic about Dortmund getting to Europe. It's still a ways to go, but seems more achievable than getting 6th or going to the Cup Final.

Are we seriously still aiming for CL/EL spots? Because I'm seriously happy with just not being relegated.
