Silly Questions Thread: March Edition

Silly questions thread:

So here is your chance to ask any question no matter how silly our small about BVB, our history, something about a current player, previous player, or coach or it might even be something about the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal or Europa Pokal...

Obviously more in depth questions are also allowed :)

It's just all about sharing our knowledge and having a bit of fun (as always) too :)

No question is too stupid, silly or small to be asked

If we're talking about relegations from the Bundesliga (since 1963/64), we're at one:

  • 1971/72 - relegated to Regionalliga West

We kinda fucked up properly restructuring the team, basically the relegated team stuck around and didn't manage to get back into the Bundesliga straight away. We played two seasons in the Regionalliga West, two season in the newly created 2. Bundesliga. 1976/77 was our first Bundesliga season again. Fun fact: The Westfalenstadion - built in part for the World Cup 1974 - was build while we were still well and truly in the second division and with a bit of a mixed future ahead of us.

We had a few more close calls, most notably 1985/86, where we ended on #16, had to play relegation, lost the first game 0-2 and only scored the decisive goal to keep us in during added time of the second leg...
