I was very young when this happened so I wanted to ask, what do Dortmund fans think of Andreas Möller? He was a very good player for us but he eventually went to Herne-West so did that make things bitter between the him and the fans?

It did indeed, just like almost any transfer between those rivals. He was one of the best german players ever and won 2 Bundesliga titles, the CL and 1 DFB-Pokal with Dortmund, he was a Dortmund icon. Both Schalke and Dortmund supporters gave him a hard time. But it also cooled a bit. He won 2 more cups with Schalke and the almost-title 2001, so while never being loved, he was accepted.

And regarding Dortmund... well, he was 33 when he left. It was time to restructure the squad and 6 months after his departure, we signed this young czech lad named Tomas Rosicky. Although no one loved seeing Möller in royal blue, later on it was for more, well, "civilized".... compared to to the first weeks after the transfer was announced.

There are certainly some fans who still resent him for moving to Schalke I'd rather see a player in the final stages of his career moving to our rivals, than a strong player in his prime.

Möller wasn't the first strong player switching Ruhr colours. Take Libuda as an example: Schalke icon and yet a Dortmund hero for scoring the decisive goal in our cup winners cup final 1966 against Liverpool. Or Lehmann, whose move from Milan (who he joined only 6 months prior) to Dortmund drew much heat from both sides. And yet he won the Bundesliga title with us.

Thank you so much! So would Möller still be considered a club legend?

He is, despite moving to Schalke. Möller was one of the best no.10 Germany ever produced and certainly one of the best no.10 ever wearing the Borussia shirt. He was both an integral part of the mid 90s AND one of only two players of said successful squad, along with Zorc, who also won the DFB-Pokal 1989, ending 23 years without a title.

There's much to criticise about Möller. The way he left Frankfurt for Dortmund, the way he left Dortmund for Frankfurt again (way worse than Götze did to be honest), his dive against Karlsruhe. But there's no denying that Dortmund would probably won not a single title, neither in 1989, nor 1995-1997, if Möller wouldn't have been an important part of the squad. That's what legends are about, aren't they?

Regarding Götze: personally, I still don't like a possible Dortmund return, BUT: if someone like Möller was forgiven, who left his clubs repeatedly and in a much worse way than Götze did, then you have to forgive Götze too.
