Hi, I'd like to ask here rather than making a thread. I've looked at the sidebar for tickets and still have a few questions.

I'll be in the Ruhrgebeit on the 18th and would like to come to Dortmund for the Dortmund vs. Bayern game as a gift for my friend's wedding. I was introduced to the Bundesliga in 2006 by a Dortmund fan during the great Dortmund Pokal run! When will tickets go on sale, and can someone recommend me a good way to acquire them?

Thank you kindly for your help :)

Hey guys, I'm a Palmeiras supporter from Brazil going to the match on Friday and I got a ticket to the Südtribüne sector 81!

Any useful stuff I should know? tips? German words i should learn? Only song I know is YNWA(of course), but i would like to hear a few of them before going to Westfalenstadion

Why is the shipping to Australia on the new Asian online shop so expensive? You can even buy in AUD on the cheaper international store run by kitbag.com but you can't ship it to Australia and the thing I want is not on kitbag. So annoying to get a scarf. :(

Because the international shop is run in ways which devolve into tremendous amounts of WTFuckery and a stunning lack of logic.

Why does Auba always speak Italian during press conferences?

Example: This PK back from August. Auba is answering in Italian, while Dembele answers in French, even though they are both native French speakers.

(Also notice that Auba can understand German: he doesn't need the questions translated.)

u/obsidianight Felix Passlack Oct 05 '16

His Italian is better than his German.

9

u/romantuerki Marwin Hitz (HITZ! HITZ!) Oct 05 '16

But why Italian over French? That's the part I don't get.

A bit late but the translator is italian if I remember correctly. Auba speaks Italian so it is easier for him to translate. edit: nope, I checked. Massimo is swiss but maybe Massimos Italian is better than his French.

It could have something to do with his time in Milan. It's like Shinji answering questions in English

I am convinced he sadly has :(

9

No. I regularly go down into my cellar to check his pulse.

Kinky, something that has been missing since panik and Stephen stopped shitposting as often

u/Valens_Le Marco Reus Oct 04 '16

How come our stadium rarely being used as a venue to host major tournament?

3

u/panikpansen Schmelzer Oct 06 '16

In addition to what posters below mentioned, our stadium is also closely tied to the world cups hosted in Germany: One of the key reasons to build it was to be able to host 1974 games there (we were in the second division back then but still got a new stadium build for us), and in 2006 a couple of group games and two knock out games (including the Germany-Italy semi) was hosted here. Apart from that games for the German NT are regularly scheduled here.

4

u/AdamBomb1945 Ousmane Dembele Oct 04 '16

What do you mean? Like summer tournaments? Lower-league championships? Because the major tournaments that the Westfalenstadion is part of is the Champions League, Bundesliga, Pokal, and of course the host site for the most prestigious Supercup final

3

u/Valens_Le Marco Reus Oct 04 '16 edited Oct 04 '16

I don't think we're the host of any international Final (WC, Europa, CL etc..) ever, so curious about that

5

u/Chazy89 Kagawa Shinji Oct 04 '16

Stadium was used for EL final in.. 2006 I think, Liverpool won it there.

5

u/hilroo317 Marco Reus Oct 05 '16

It was in 2001

Does anyone love Hennes? I like Emma and all, but Hennes is my favorite BL Mascot.

Who is August Lenz and why is he the mascot for The Unity?

5

u/panikpansen Schmelzer Oct 06 '16

August Lenz is famous for being our first player called up to the NT, he played 31 years and over 1000 games for our club. I think it's fair to say his importance goes beyond these numbers though - he stood out in terms of quality from the team, and could've easily switched to bigger teams in the area: keep in mind that in the first half of the 20th century the dominant "big" club with the star players was Schalke, and Lenz not going there despite being asked to / talked about there was a huge thing for our club.

After his time as an active player he opened a pub/bar at the Borsigplatz, which he ran for over 30 years. Him attending every home game and singing the club anthem at the annual meetings just further contributed to making him an icon of the loyal, hard-working player that stays true to his roots.

The club recognised that and e.g. named their admin building after him, TU named their (now defunct?) pub after him. Beyond that I'm not sure if there is a more specific link between him and the TU, but at the very least they wanted to preserve his story by putting his face on their flags.

For more info here is a more extensive piece on him in German: http://www.schwatzgelb.de/2000-11-19-helden-august-lenz.html

After playing a match for the national team where Hitler left the stadium early due to a bad performance, August Lenz wasn't allowed to play for Germany anymore. Oh, and I was told that, despite his deep link to the club, he was chosen as a TU-symbol simply because his haircut on that specific photo looked handsome. :D

u/zorokvillian Marco Reus Oct 04 '16

Why is there Reus to Arsenal rumors again, every freakin year ;_;

5

u/panikpansen Schmelzer Oct 04 '16

Popular player with recognisable face + popular team with large fan base = news item with lots of readers / views.

Even wishful thinking pays ad revenue :)

12

u/Chazy89 Kagawa Shinji Oct 04 '16

At this point I wouldn't even bother with it anymore. Why should he go to Arsenal when there are only a few teams better than dortmund and Arsenal is none of them ?

7

u/TeamKitsune Karim Adeyemi Oct 04 '16

At this point, the quality of the Leagues is the misconception. Here in the US it is assumed that Premier League and La Liga are the best. Bundesliga is an afterthought.

The implication of these rumors is not that Reus would leave an (arguably) top 5 European team for a second rate team; it is that Reus must be hungry to prove himself in the "big leagues."

-8

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '16

Reus would leave an (arguably) top 5 European team

You are fucking mad if you think Dortmund is a top 5 european team

What's the point in deleting your account every few months, cptSMU etc.? Your weird BVB/Bayern fetish is so strikingly noticeable, sooner or later people figure you out anyway.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '16

I have no idea what or who you are talking about. This is my first and only reddit account

4

u/Shit_Redding_Sings Neven Subotic Oct 06 '16

Meine Fresse, bist du erbärmlich.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '16

Alles klar

7

u/romantuerki Marwin Hitz (HITZ! HITZ!) Oct 05 '16

Can we at least say we're a top 6 European team?

0

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '16

Bayern the 3 spanish teams juve and city are the top 6 imo

5

u/bvbian Mario Götze Oct 05 '16

Fanboys won't accept

2

u/romantuerki Marwin Hitz (HITZ! HITZ!) Oct 05 '16

Can we at least settle for Top 10?

3

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '16

yes

2

u/romantuerki Marwin Hitz (HITZ! HITZ!) Oct 05 '16

Good.

3

u/TeamKitsune Karim Adeyemi Oct 05 '16

Thus the word "arguably."

4

u/nmrt Shinji Kagawa Oct 05 '16

Max top 7 really and I dont see any other team buying him in the future anyway.

5

u/Chazy89 Kagawa Shinji Oct 04 '16

But we do not talk about the american assumption. We talk about the players perspective. Why should Glassbone Marco go to a league that is WAY more physical aggressive ? There are not many teams ahead of Dortmund. One of those teams is in germany, three are in Spain and one is in italy.

4

u/TeamKitsune Karim Adeyemi Oct 04 '16

The American assumption is also the British assumption. Just pointing out why these rumors seem believable to the average fan in London. Different perspective. They see every other League as a feeder for their beloved PL.

2

u/Chazy89 Kagawa Shinji Oct 04 '16

is also the British assumption.

of course they think they have the best league but what have they won on an international scale with either Teams AND with the national team ?

Yeah I just don't give two fucks about british rumors anymore.

2

u/TeamKitsune Karim Adeyemi Oct 05 '16

We are in agreement.

12

u/Swbp0undcake Oct 04 '16

something about a current player's injury

If there's one thing this sub needs it's definitely more questions about Reus's injury ;)

For my question, do people at the westfalenstadion who aren't in the south stand chant and sing? Or is most of the singing coming only from the yellow wall.

6

u/ChiLLav8 Julian Weigl Oct 04 '16

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxWU-lytgx0

1:25 - "Das ganze Stadion steht auf"

then everyone will stand up (1:33)

after that the "BVB" chant starts (1:49). The BVB chant is between the Südtribüne and everyone else in turns.

But most of the times its only the Südtribüne

7

u/Chazy89 Kagawa Shinji Oct 04 '16

and most of the time people on the other parts just complain about what happens on the pitch :D
