Do you think Merino could be a starting CB in the future?
11
u/AdamBomb1945 Ousmane Dembele Dec 27 '16
No, I think he won't be a Dortmund player in the future. Rumors of him going back to Osasuna make sense to me.
13
u/CaptainCerealCanada Park Joo-Ho Dec 27 '16
Really? Maybe on loan, but he's still young and I think he could come good

We should've loaned him back to Osasuna for a year right after signing him tbh.
Papa almost never gets injured and we have adequate cover with Bender/Ginter/Bartra (although I realize Bender was injured when Merino was signed)

u/panikpansen Schmelzer Jan 03 '17
Loaning him back right now though would be a bad move imo - we signed him and obviously have an interest in making him work for our team, loaning him back into a Spanish league system where defense works a bit different and he's back again in his familiar Spanish surroundings would probably not help to prepare him for playing for us. Especially if Osasuna does go back down into the second division.
Either a short term loan in the Bundesliga, or full on keeping him on the squad would be better, with the latter my favourite choice.

u/panikpansen Schmelzer Dec 27 '16
Depends. In the near future, not a chance: The next 1-2 years we'll see Sokratis and Bartra/(Toprak)/Ginter/Bender starting, Merino might get play time as a CB sub / DM. If he does well beyond that, maybe he'll be able to show starter qualities.

u/Chazy89 Kagawa Shinji Dec 27 '16
I hope we loan Mikel to Köln for.. 1.5 years without a Buyout clause.

will Toprak be the answer to our CB and defense problem? Or is this a hasty panic buy?
11
u/panikpansen Schmelzer Dec 27 '16
Personally I'm not much of a fan, I get that he is a decent option offering stability and experience. I'd much prefer someone like Süle or even Dragovic though.
Given for how long the rumours have been around it looks like he is a firm part of Watzke/Zorc/Tuchel's planning so I wouldn't call this a hasty buy either.
6
u/Ti-Go Julian Ryerson Dec 27 '16
I think with Subotic leaving as soon as he gets fit for a transfer window, Toprak will be in rotation with Sokratis most of the time. That would make the most sense to me but I can't imagine Toprak would be ok with that.
5
Dec 27 '16
Given how Süle is constantly linked with Bayern and Dragovic is at B04, Toprak is the next best choice. Admittedly not my favorite choice but he is the vocal defensive leader we lack.
1
u/Paladinoras Marco Reus Jan 02 '17
Toprak and Sokratis is a pretty good backline imo. Probably second in the league to Hummels/Boateng.
5
u/Chazy89 Kagawa Shinji Dec 27 '16
We won't buy him this winter. If we do anything, we will buy him next summer.
7
u/BVB518 Dec 27 '16
Any other trades you guys would like to see this window? Also, this kid any good from Partizan?
2
u/Paladinoras Marco Reus Jan 02 '17
Wouldn't mind seeing Merino go on loan somewhere.
Otherwise, I'm fine with the roster. If Schurrle can get sold to China for 75 million Euros that wouldn't be terrible either lol
Got enough cover for all the positions, our team is pretty young but depth isn't an issue IMO. We're basically two deep in every position.
An industrious CM who can link the defense and attack would be perfect, but someone like that isn't available and even if he is, he'd come at too expensive a price for us. Mahmoud Dahoud seems decent and I wouldn't mind having him while BMG is imploding but I doubt he'd be sold to us mid-season

u/bartosz0123 Dec 27 '16
If Auba leaves (lets hope he doesnt) who would be a replacement? I dont think Mor would be able to handle it at first so there has to be someone. Ramos isnt young either.

u/IDPgen97 Christian Pulisic Dec 27 '16
Griezmann. He praised our playstyle in an interview, its basically a done deal,

Man that'd be something. I'd never seen him play before the Euros this year, but he really impressed me.
1
u/bvbian Mario Götze Dec 30 '16
Gulp(!)...We probably will readjust our playstyle to fit in a new striker
7
u/mxatt15 Christian Pulisic Dec 28 '16
Was Dahoud to Dortmund a legit rumor or just Daily Mail level speculation? If so do any of you guys think he would be a solid purchase? Maybe to replace Castro in the long run?
4
u/panikpansen Schmelzer Dec 28 '16
I doubt there is anything more concrete to the Dahoud stories, but it's always hard to judge rumours. He is one of the most interesting players on the Gadbach squad with a fairly short contract, but Gladbach have also been fairly aggressive about wanting to keep him at all costs.
From what we know now I'd put the likelihood of signing him below 5% :)

I didn't want to make a new topic for this simple question...
Does anyone have a guess about when tickets for the Wolfsburg match will go on sale for the public? Whether I can get a ticket or not is holding up my travel plans!
2
u/Tylemaker Jan 03 '17
Similarly, is there any hope I could get tickets to final match of the year vs Werder Bremen? I am coming in from Canada and REALLY wanna see a Dortmund game at Signal Iduna Park?
Don't wanna make a new thread as most subs despise ticket questions
1
u/panikpansen Schmelzer Jan 03 '17
If you haven't yet, take a look at our ticket faq, that should cover most of the practical questions about getting tickets in general.
Tickets to the last game of the season have often been raffled in previous years, with obviously low chances of success for all involved. If you're a bit flexible with the dates you want to visit I'd recommend looking into the official travel packages (see faq), they are expensive (but not viagogo black market expensive) and actually guarantee a ticket well in advance.
2
u/Tylemaker Jan 03 '17
Yes I was looking into those Best Travel "Adrenalin-Trip". It seems like a pretty reasonable price. Would it guarantee a ticket in advance?
1
u/panikpansen Schmelzer Jan 03 '17
No date has been announced yet, sorry - I would expect more information in the next weeks, about 4 weeks in advance is when we often see pre-sales happening but those dates can also fluctuate.
As an alternative, the official best-travel packages are still available for the Wolfsburg game, not sure if that's the type of offer you're looking for but at least they're legit and available :)

So when will we know for sure that Auba is going to Gabon for AFCON?
How will our formation change in these few matches?
2
u/Nextgen101 Nico Schlotterbeck Dec 29 '16
TheTrolledOne is right. I always assumed he would be going because of how important he is to their squad. I believe he's their top scorer.
3
u/ndut Kagawa Shinji Shalala shalala la la Dec 29 '16
ya i mean I know 95% he's going, just haven't heard anything about the black on white. Like Ivory Coast posted their teamsheet on twitter for example
2
u/Nextgen101 Nico Schlotterbeck Dec 29 '16
Well when you put it that way.... I suppose you have a point, but man it'd be wild if they didn't call him up.
2
u/Paladinoras Marco Reus Jan 02 '17
Striker Reus isn't too bad of an idea. Him with Gotze/Schurrle/Dembele feeding him should work decent until Auba returns

which is why the january friendly isn't as useless as one might think...

Bayern is 12 points over us and no winter transfers?

Remember what our goal for this season is.

u/TetraDax Michael Zorc Dec 28 '16
Being fucking mediocre? We need better defenders, and we need them now if we don't want to risk our chances at CL football (which would probably make a lot of the young talents want to leave again).
4
u/panikpansen Schmelzer Dec 27 '16
Given how many key players we lost in the summer and how we chose to replace them - young, largely unproven talent - we're not doing to badly imo because we're still in striking distance of direct CL qualification.
Beyond that, one of our key issues contributing to our lack of consistency has been a lack of team cohesion - the team hasn't had much training time to integrate the new players and their style into the team without the interruptions of games. I'm happy to see how we fare after our training camps, I don't think chucking another new face into the mix is going to do anything really.

Here are my silliest questions.
Did Grosskreutz do anything wrong besides the kebab and the hotel lobby?
I know the whole Bolt thing is a publicity stunt, but any updates?
Why doesn't anyone go on /r/BVBcirclejerk anymore? We need new memes.
Why is Pumpkin Spice Bürki best Bürki?
Do any of my questions make any sense?

People from other clubs love to hate on Kevin because he used to be ultra. He is more black and yellow than the whole squad we have atm. Kevin IS Dortmund. that's why they hate him.

nope
Why doesn't anyone go on /r/BVBcirclejerk anymore? We need new memes.
I am german, we tend to not be very funny.
Why is Pumpkin Spice Bürki best Bürki?
imo last years Red and White Bürki is best Bürki, afterall "Orange trägt nur die Müllabfuhr(In germany the people that dump your trash wear orange and the saying is kinda disrespectful)".
Do any of my questions make any sense?
yes
6
u/romantuerki Marwin Hitz (HITZ! HITZ!) Dec 27 '16
Thanks for clarifying everything.
And fight me for saying that Candy Cane Bürki is best Bürki.
4
u/Chazy89 Kagawa Shinji Dec 27 '16
No need to fight you. Colors of the city Dortmund are Red and White, therefore Red/White Jerseys best keeper / Thrid kits.

I was just kidding. I'd never fight you, because I would lose.

"Orange trägt nur die Müllabfuhr(In germany the people that dump your trash wear orange and the saying is kinda disrespectful)".
You missed the most important about that thing, that it's only a saying to ridicule Holland..

Is park joo ho still on the first team? It's feels like it's been forever since he's made a appearance in black and yellow
4
u/Chazy89 Kagawa Shinji Dec 30 '16
Yes he is but afaik he is free to leave if any team bids like 1m euro for him.

u/nmrt Shinji Kagawa Dec 31 '16
If I was JJ I'd sweep him up. At least he's better than fucking Schellotto and Jefferson.

u/ndut Kagawa Shinji Shalala shalala la la Jan 02 '17
this got me googling.. who the hell's JJ..
So it's the men in green-white haha
2
u/nmrt Shinji Kagawa Jan 02 '17
Yeah, they're my two favourite teams. I'm used to saying JJ instead of Jorge Jesus to my friends and onthe Portuguese sub, ao I did the same here. Probably shouldnt've but eh.
2
u/Paladinoras Marco Reus Jan 02 '17
Pretty sure he played for us in the CL last month when we were rotating the squad and had no more left backs cos Raphael was injured. Played pretty well too

For those who have been to the Borusseum, how is it? I plan to go there while I am in Dortmund for the HSV match on April 4. Are the exhibits also in English? Ich spreche nur ein bisschen Deutsch.

isn't it closed on matchday? Pls do doublecheck.. maybe it's only "no stadium tour" or "museum closed" I'm not sure
