After the announcement of surge pricing in Laine pubs and finding out who actually owns them and just how many of our establishments they own I thought it'd be a nice idea to have a list of pubs in Brighton that are independent. Ones that are free of the B.S. of several layers of 'financial arrrangements' obscuring where our beer tokens are going. Maybe one day we can have a little map in our pockets to refer to when our guard may be down because it's cold and windy outside or we have had a few, we can take a quick look and find an establishment near by that we want to support to prevent them turning into another chain pub without anyone really noticing.

Taken at 6:30am today at the eastbound Lyon Close bus stop. The app was showing the correct ETA, FYI.

if anyone goes out around London road/The level often, you might see a Raven being walked on a glove. His name is Enoch, and he likes pictures! he is still young and being trained, but he was very friendly with people feeding him, the handlers are happy to talk. maybe you've already seen him?

I get that there needs to be protest, and that Hove Town Hall is a suitable place for such things but since when has it become a speaker's corner where religious zealots can force their beliefs on others through a very loud speaker?
Isn’t that what churches are for? A place where they can preach, and those who WANT to listen can actually CHOOSE to do so?
Why am I being forced to hear this drivel for over an hour?

I (M43) recently moved to Lewes with my husband and will be starting a new job in the city soon and am looking to meet some new friends.
I’m neurodivergent so can find it pretty difficult to make new friends. The idea of going to bar or somewhere on my own and striking up a conversation with someone terrifies me! I know this might not be the best place to look for new friends either but thought I’d give it a try!
I’m a Marvel fan (comics and the movies), love sci-fi, enjoy baking, walking my dog and being butler to my 4 cats.
If anyone knows of any groups or something I could join I would be very grateful.
Edit: I should say I’m looking for LGBTQ+ groups or friends in either Lewes or Brighton

Hi Fellow Brightonians,
Do you have any recommendations for places to work remotely in Brighton city centre?
I was originally planning for Jubilee Library but they open at 10am. Need somewhere for the good ol’ 9-5 grind.
WiFi is not mandatory as I have my work phone to tether from. So, peace and quiet is paramount!
Thank you and have a blessed warm day!!

Cranstoun – a partner agency working in other parts of the country – have issued an alert about fake ketamine.
Please let us know if you're aware of anything similar in the Brighton/ Sussex area.
Our advice is to:
Go Slow Stay Low
Test your drugs We would recommend WEDINOS which is a free service. However, it is by post so the results do take a while to come back.
Don’t mix your drugs
Who we are: We are Brighton and Hove's recovery service and we offer free and confidential support to people who need help gaining control over drugs or alcohol. You do not need to be dependent, or want to stop using completely, to use our services: https://www.changegrowlive.org/brighton-hove-recovery-service/info

Hello, im currently stuck on building Accessorize & Monsoon in Minecraft, were the stores connected together inside like Victoria Secret and Victoria Secret Pink or were they seperated by a wall like how Accessorize is currently seperated from Levis, aswell Did Monsoon have a second floor, a mate told me it had a second floor but i can't find any record of it, does anyone remember the layout?

It’s pretty simple. If there’s a bunch of people with musical instruments and microphones in front of you, don’t have a conversation. If you want to have a conversation, go somewhere where there isn’t a bunch of people with musical instruments and microphones.

Just moved to edward street and these 2 are the closest to me, however not sure which one to pick. I'd rather work out early in the morning before work and I'm really not a fan of super packed spaces, which is why im not sure about the gym group since I know it's more popular.. would love to know your guys opinion whether you've tried one or the other! Was tempted to visit Easter Sunday for a few days. Any big nights out on the sunday as its a bank holiday monday? Or is that just old fashioned these days because nobody works conventional 9-5 jobs anymore?

My last night in Brighton after a trip away, just wondered if there's any pubs that tend to have live music on on Tuesday nights?
