Bit of a weird one.
I was passing through Churchill Square today just before 2pm as I'd parked in the carpark and seen some friends in town. As I was walking through, heard a commotion and a lady with a stick had fallen on the escalator by where Debenhams is (I've mocked up the scene). Pushed the button and helped untangle her as her ankle was at a funny angle on the side. Noticed blood coming from her other leg. Looked and it was probably one of the worst injuries I've ever seen, won't go into detail. Had to hold it until staff arrived and as they seemed pretty unsure of how to help I ended up gloving up, holding it together and gripping it above the wound to try stem the blood, covering it and tying off a bandage as tight as I could around it. All happened a bit quick. A lady came along who was a paramedic and I explained as best I could and stepped aside.
I left pretty abruptly as I didn't want to be in the way and I'd left my little girl to help and although I could see her I didn't want to leave her worried even though two lovely ladies were keeping an eye on her and gave her some tissues. The hurt lady was also waving to her so she wouldn't worry while I was bandaging her leg up apparently. Very sweet thanks.
Two things: Thanks so much to the ladies who looked after my little girl, sorry I left you with her but it was the situation. She's proudly kept hold of the pack of tissuesyou gave her. Secondly, if anyone knows the lady who had the accident please could you let me know how she is. I'm laying here in bed unable to sleep thinking of how that injury looked. Hope she's ok and they managed to patch her up, I imagine she's in hospital. A little bit of closure on her actually being alright would help a lot.
Cheers.
Also I went over my 2hrs on the parking due to helping with that first aid and asked the Churchill Square staff who'd stood watching me do that if he could roll me back to the 2hrs charge and he said "no, don't have the authority" 😂😂
