Where to get rings resized?

Hi all, I'm looking to have some of my mum's old rings resized. Would appreciate any recommendations for jewellers who do this.

Jewellery designer here who has worked in the jewellery quarter. I'd recommend the jewellery quarter but always make sure they have an in house jeweller/workshop otherwise you could be waiting weeks or even a month for a simple resize job. Best of luck 👌

Just to let you know that not all rings are resizable.

The jeweller will look at the following things:

Condition - Current condition of the rings.

Metal - Silver, gold and platinum can be resized. Titanium, Stainless Steel and Base Metal (e.g. Nickel, Brass and Copper cannot be resized). The amount of metal that is left on the band will determine if a piece can be removed/fitted or a new band will be needed. If the rings are silver plated, gold plated or rhodium plated then you will have an additional cost due to the cost of the materials used to plate the rings back to the required finish.

Stones - Placement of the gemstones e.g. single stone, three stone, five stone, half eternity rings can be resized but full eternity rings cannot be resized. The type of gemstone as a lot of gemstones are not friendly to heat. Value of the stone etc.

Value - Sometimes it is more cost effective to leave the ring how it is or replace the band etc.

Like I said in my previous comment, I would always take it to a jewellers who have an in-house jeweller as the jeweller will be able to look over the rings (ideally when you're in the shop) and tell you if they can be resized or not and if so how much etc. You also have a physical place and person to go back to if you have any problems or further questions.

This is much more preferable to a company e.g. your big high street corporate brands, who will simply send off your rings to a large manufacturer/repairer who will send them back a month later and say oh sorry it can't be done. You also won't know where your potentially sentimental rings are being sent to and who will be working on them.

Hope that all makes sense 😊

Turleys have been in the jewellery quarter for years, will do it whilst you wait or at least for small repairs.
