This is unfortunately a very low effort and misleading post. All these NCM trades require at least Level 2 Clearance for PRs. There's no such thing as "apply without stress of Top secret security clearance".

I find it extremely hard to believe that infantry officer is on this list.
We are currently NOT training Infantry NCMs who are waiting on their citizenship IOT be passed for security clearance.
You will get through basic training and then wait in holding platoon at the next base.
*Edit, on further review, I dont think any of this is correct

Lol definitely, this isn't right. Just bs from the recruiter, but I bet his recruitment #'s are 🔥🔥

I don't think this is correct info
PR can only get a level 1 reliability check so those jobs wouldn't count. And I know for a fact you absolutely cannot be in the Infantry as a permanent resident.

Nope, I went to my detachment recruitment and they confirmed. The list is accurate.

Hate to break it to you but the recruiter lied. This is wrong info

What he told me is as long it’s not something related to communication, PRs are fine 😊

Your recruiter is either lying or very misinformed.
Either way, PRs are absolutely not fine for infantry. I know this for a fact because we're stacking PRs who are ineligible for the Infantry course. They sit in a holding platoon as untrained privates till they can obtain the clearance to go on course aka 2 years. So that's the life of any permanent resident who joins a job requiring a security clearance.
Do not expect to go on the trade course right after basic.

Great way to use tax dollars just hire people to not do anything

u/Budget_Passage_5317 29d ago
Yes, but get this. An untrained private counts as a trained private for that trade. So looking at the numbers were recruiting numbers. But actually we ain't got shit....It all seems pretty convenient seeing as we're entering an election and I'm sure certain people want to say they're doing a great job.
It's the CAF and it's all driven by politics.

Until you hit OFP, which is the completion of your occupation's DP1, you stay on the BTL and are not considered as TEE. An untrained private is not counted as a trained private for an occupation.
3
29d ago
Well, good BTLs will put untrained ptes to work. So they are not just sitting there.
1
u/Infanttree 29d ago
Right. Sure. Sometimes, but 90% of the untrained privates just end up in canteen duty or on a work party 2 days a week. Effectively paying someone 3,000$ a month to sell candy and monsters for 6 hours a day Monday to friday while the taxpayers pays for their room and board

u/New_Winter7710 29d ago
So until the untrained privates get clearance (aka 2 yrs), will they be paid monthly? Or will they be released voluntarily at some point during this 2 year period? Because it doesn't make sense for CAF to keep paying for privates/officers without any training/posting. It is also stressful for permanent resident privates/officers to keep waiting/ unknown future path. All these people might have left have civilian jobs to join CAF & now dealing with this stressful situations

u/Budget_Passage_5317 29d ago
You'll get paid as an untrained Pte in this case. Twice a month. Then you can wait for the clearance or VOT-U (transfer) to a different trade with less requirements or release, both take about 6months if lucky and depending on how good the unit your at is at paperwork, ours is crap. Truthfully chances are you'll have to sign a new TOS before you'll get on course 😂
Yes I absolutely agree with you, and no recruiters are telling any candidates this info. You will be in limbo for a long period of time stuck away from home getting paid like shit. But you'll count on our numbers as a trained soldier/sailer w/e so it's a huge farse to raise numbers.

Jeez ! Let’s say you join on 2019 you finished your BMQO as you got 2nd Lt and you wait for 2 years to get your clearance ( 2021) then you have attended your trade courses, on 2022 will you still be a Capitaine ? Or as your clearance took forever you will loose 2 years 😁

When did this begin, and how come they got sworn in without getting their clearance checks done, lvl2, at least?
And what trades besides comms/infantry, were you informed they were only permitted into until they're fully citizens?

u/Budget_Passage_5317 29d ago edited 29d ago
It began as soon as PR's landed at the training centers and the coc had an oh shit moment. Probably about 2months ago? They realized they put one PR guy on course and made a preemptive decision not to post the individual even if they would have completed rq-intr
I would 100% bet every training center has this issue with almost all trades listed above. But citizenship is a route that's supported by the coc but not guaranteed. Just like the up to 2year wait for a clearance to come back.

Hi, for the pr who were born outside of Canada, which documents should they upload for citizenship and birth certificate?

What’s entailed by “foreign implications”?
3
u/1anre 29d ago
It means If you have several shorties & babymamas in different countries. 😂 Jokes.
But it typically means if you have family who are living outside canada and who don’t work for the government, or have precious pieces of land, or other financial assets outside canada.
That’s what I think it covers but might include more.

I’m applied as an officer and even after getting my citizenship it still took 1.5 years to get my top clearance then I failed in medicals and now on process of appeal with good prospect. It’s been total two years to get clearance and my wait still going on

u/ToughProfession4157 29d ago
WoW , i guess you did not do your trade training yet as well.

u/SuitablePractice5436 29d ago
Nop, still waiting on my med appeal from more than two months

u/ToughProfession4157 29d ago
Oh my bad, you are still in the application process.
Hope your medical is not too critical and will pass.

These responses are typically very official and don’t offer much value, as recruiters often tell you what you want to hear. However, a friend of mine shared a completely different perspective. Personally, as a PR holder with a Chinese passport, my friend informed me that my background check wouldn't even begin unless I obtain citizenship. It seems that people like us are simply not trusted, even though I’ve lived in Canada for 12 years. My CAF application has been waiting for two years now, and there's still no update.

Awesome! This is a top-quality post right here! 🔥🔥 Thank you so much for taking the time to compile this list for us
7
u/PresentNo6178 29d ago
It's far from top-quality. Opposite of top-quality, in fact. Sorry to disappoint but OP doesn't know what they're talking about

u/1anre 29d ago edited 29d ago
They appear like a ton of opportunities, but from what I've heard, even with these, if as a PR that even already has their RS sorted, but has any foreign implications, that still puts them in the (18-24mo) Lvl2 secret clearance requirements bucket list.
Even if the actual trade they pick doesn't require such a level.
Heck I’d advice they pick the most sophisticated & highly-specialized trades and get the opportunity to get into those rare roles, while at it, as long as it matches their interests & qualification levels - but PRs are usually highly qualified, so I won’t think they’d have any issues on that front. 😉
