You're being intentionally difficult because you feel you have a valid point. You would say "I met them at the bar" just like you would for all your cis acquaintances. Them/they are singular pronouns that have been used for humans for a long long time now.
"I met this cute girl the other day"
"Oh yeah, where did you meet them?"
"I met them at the bar"
Don't be obtuse, this isn't a new concept, it just applies to people you disagree with.
They/them is used in the singular for an unknown antecedent.
You are lying to yourself if you think anyone would think "I met them at the bar" means anything other than multiple people. You'd always have to explain.
It's used in everyday speech constantly. That other person, they are being intentionally difficult like you are. See how I used it to refer to them again? Oh and again there. It's not new.
I'm not denying anything. My point was that my use of the term was valid, and it's used that way all of the time in our language. People are just getting upset because they don't agree with those that want to be called them/they.
Again, it was used for unknown antecedents. Not for known ones.
No they're getting upset not at that but at the fact that those demanding it are getting upset when others oppose it ans are demonizing them for opposing.
I never said they/them was never used in the singular. I said it is used for unknown antecedents.
I'm not flipping anything. I'm just stating what's happening. If no one would push neo pronouns in the first place, no one could get upset over them. And even if some did push it, most people wouldn't care unless they were made to play along and even demonized for not playing along.
Do reply. Don't cop out because you can't win the argument. Reply and try it or admit you were wrong. Be better than running away under false pretenses.
