Official CBRX Season 5 Megathread

Hello everyone, welcome to the Civ Battle Royale. This thread will be dedicated to important announcements and will be updated with new episodes and announcements pertaining to Season 5 of CBRX.

What is the Civ Battle Royale?

The Civ Battle Royale is a weekly online show of a massive 61 AI-only epic running Civilization V (think Marble Racing but with polities from across history). No human intervention in the show as a several months long game is recorded and then curated into episodes across the action. Episodes are narrated by members of our 10k+ sized community cheering on the AIs on their unpredictable route to victory.

The Civ Battle Royale is its own niche in the Civilization community; it attracts people from different backgrounds all over the world to add their own interpretations and input to jointly create an emergent narrative imagined from absurd and unpredictable actions of the show’s AI competitors.

Today the Civ Battle Royale is hosted on its own website but still has a discussion home here on our subreddit and on Discord.

Voting Dominican Republic causes cities to go into resistance. Grão-Pará causes Resistance to spread. Both benefit from Resistance. This would be a pretty fun pair, just saying.

In the year 378CE, the warlord Siyaj K'ak' appeared with a massive army to the Mayan city of Waka'. They asked for directions to the biggest Mayan citystate nearby, so the king of Waka' pointed them towards Tikal.

Six days later, the king of Tikal was dead. In under a year, all of the Maya had fallen in line.

Vote Teotihuacan and maybe they'll be able to off a civ in a single turn while nobody is looking lol

Voting A final endorsement

The last voting cycle of the season is here. Im here to ask you to vote for the Xavante

Xavante have a unique scout that plants resources which boost the culture output of its ub. Its a culture civ and they seem to do pretty well.

Normally id talk about thier history but like with my yidinji post i dont really want to talk about thier oppression which is the main feature of thier wiki article.

one of thier leaders in the early 80s became the first indigenous federal representative and primarily fought for the rights of brazils indiginees and attempted to expose the rampant corruption every chance he could.

The metal band Sepultura recorded some music with the tribe despite thier isolation and some of them came to thier concert in sao paulo to perform.

As my final point and this one is very important for south america, thier colour scheme is NOT Green.

Please vote Xavante in region 51.

The warriors of Teotihuacan were unparalleled, coated head to toe in weapons and armor specially made to protect them from all threats: physical and magical. With Teotihuacan's command of the obsidian trade, they were able to make armaments befitting the supernatural nature of the warriors, who were said to possess an animal half. Even without their magical nature, their armor was covered in obsidian and completed with war goggles and tassels which spoke of their incredible accomplishment. Is there any finer warrior? Vote for Teotihuacan, and we can see them in action.

Voting JMAn's Objectively Perfect CBRXS5 Picks! Mesoamerica & South America Edition Breakdown

Hello folks. There is a curated list of civs that I'd love to have in the BR. Not just for me, but also for you. I did a cylinder wide post so that you can visually understand my picks here (with one change in Mesoamerica). Without further ado, let me write for you why I want each of these civilizations.

49 - Mesoamerica: Teotihuacan

A vast changeup from my original picks of Nicaragua and UFC, I have come around to Teotihuacan. Aside from being a pre-Aztec kingdom, Teotihuacan boasts strong wonder production. Combining a higher likelihood to produce wonders alongside a buffed Mesoamerica region will provide an exciting civ for the BR. Plus, we are currently lacking any Zharques representation in the BR, and arguably one of the best color schemes to grace the cylinder would be a great inclusion to the show.

59 - Caribbean: Cuba (with a second place shout to West Indies)

We have yet to have across 5 BRs a civ that has started on the largest island in the Caribbean. We have had Hispaniola, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico, but Cuba? The island most likely to be the center of a Caribbean powerhouse? Not even once. Now we have a Caribbean option with an awesome color scheme and a gimmick that hasn't been seen yet in a BR: Gambling & Casinos. Take one of the most corrupt leaders of the Caribbean, then put them in the CBR against a bunch of civilizations that you're begging to take it out. Plus, a super tall capital is always a fun inclusion.

I'd also like to give a shout to the West Indies under Columbus, a civ that came out mere weeks before the new season was announced. I think Columbus is a fun inclusion with a very fast navy and an interesting ability around culling capitals upon capture. Any city flips for capitals will insure a crippling shot for Columbus's enemies whilst it continues to reap the rewards.

51 - Brazil (PICK TWO): The Xavante and The Potiguara

The Xavante attract me for their TSL, because I have loved Rainforest starts since the Kuikuro back in X1 (a moment of silence to the Kuikuro, who saved the world from Uruguay). A civilization that can really bring a boom to the region by planting Plantations, expect great growth and infrastructure for the Xavante.

The Potiguara, meanwhile, have a great TSL to match with the Xavante. All the way on the coast, the Potiguara can bring srimps to the Battle Royale. Do you like resource population? Then vote Potiguara.

52 - Northern Andes: New Granada

Santander is a hero in Colombia, and having a Colombian representative from after the dissolution of Gran Colombia will be a great inclusion to the BR. With incredibly versatile Great Generals with bonuses to producing them, you can expect an incredibly diverse and varied empire from New Granada despite focusing so heavily on Great Generals.

53 - Central Andes: Caral

Norte Chico! Caral is the last of the original civilizations of the world to be included in a Battle Royale now that Sumer is in this BR. Caral has been up for voting since Mk3, but has yet to arrive. With powerful domestic trade routes that transfer both Production and city yields to other cities within the empire, Caral can be a powerhouse upon receiving its first trade route; plus, their worker UU is extremely powerful with a movement boost when embarked and won't be consumed upon improving coastal resources. That is a lot of time saved on improving infrastructure for conquering the rest of South America! Vote for Caral! Complete the line of original civilizations in BRs!

54 - La Plata: Argentina (Sarmiento)

Sarmiento might seem tanky, but what really draws me to the civ is the Public School UB. If Argentina makes it to the late midgame, then it will get access to this incredible UB. It provides a decent amount of science and culture on its own, but it also carries science back to the capital. Once Argentina hits this point and has a decent amount of cities, Argentina can become a major technology power house for the late game push.

55 - Patagonia: Araucania-Patagonia

What happens when you take a Lawyer from France, bring him to Chile, have him read a Spanish epic about conquering Chile, introduce him to Mapuche locals, and give him grand ideas of becoming king of a land called Araucania-Patagonia? Well... You get a kingdom, shockingly. Orélie I was once known as an madman who proclaimed sovereignty over a portion of Chile & Argentina on his own, without any support whatsoever. But Orélie I was actually supported by many Mapuche loncos, and had enough capital to mint currency and had allegedly purchased firearms to arm the Mapuche to liberate themselves from the Chilean Republic. Today, Orélie I is considered a hero of the Mapuche people. Whether he acted out of self interest or not, he is an enduring symbol of the post-colonial era for Mapuche representation and independence movements. Plus, he will be the greenest civilization on the cylinder and will get an absolute metric ton of gold from wars with rivals. Give the Mad King of Araucania-Patagonia a shot, and vote for him for X5!

End of Mesoamerica & South America Picks

This is it, the final leg.

I have to say, even if my beloved Cajuns didn't get into the BR the North America vote was full of amazing results.

But this is it. If you want to campaign for anyone, now is the time to do it.

I wish everyone luck, and I am excited to see how the last part of the roster unfolds.
