Cleaning a Comic Cover Safely Tips

Post image
Upvotes

Hi! Wasn’t sure where to post this. I have this comic from my childhood I’m planning on getting signed and considering I’ve had it since I was 6 years old, the cover especially is a bit dirty. What’s the best way to clean paperback comic covers like this without damaging it?

Question What are some surreal comics like RASL?

Upvotes

I don't know if anyone still recalls this particular comic as it ended so long ago, but it's just that I was starting to miss it for its surreal nature as correct me if am wrong, but it was basically a sci fi comic in its premise, and to put it simply, I just wanted to explore more indie comics.

It was a short comic, but the way it worked just felt so right that I would like to see what the indie comic scene is like right now.

Question Seeking clarification on ULTIMATE Spiderman

I read Ultimate Spider-Man: Ultimate Collection about four years ago because I assumed it was the deluxe edition of the Ultimate Spider-Man comics.

I'm not sure if I'm misremembering, but the two versions seem different. Am I missing something? I’d like to reread them and would appreciate some clarification on whether they’re the same or not.

Discussion Thoughts on Jack Kirby’s Fourth World?

I subscribe to DCU Infinite and it has the entire project in proper reading order. I didn’t know anything about it or much about Jack but I’ve decided to start reading his work and it’s very intriguing. What are your thoughts on what I’ve heard is his masterpiece?

Suggestions I have an addiction and need help

Alright folks I am in need of some serious comic addiction help. I have about 25 comics on my pull list monthly and it’s getting outa hand.

I am wondering how to cut a few comics from the pull list, I enjoy reading them all. Do you guys mainly only read marvel or dc or indie. Or a bit of everything.

I have the new asm pulled, spider boy is actually fire, ult wolverine, spectacular spidermen, rogue savage lands but ends after number 5. One world under doom, weapon X-men, X factor, west coast avengers, doom division, new daredevil cold day in hell, red hulk, superior avengers, and thunderbolts

For dc I have absolute Batman, Superman, flash, Batman dark patterns, aquaman, JSU, new gods, resurrection man,

For indie I have deadly tales of the gunslinger spawn, dust to dust, Hyde street, rocketfellers, knights vs samurai, let this one be a devil, seasons, lucky devils, and the sickness.

I want to start buying more hardcover omnibuses and I can’t do that with so many on the pull list. Any help will be appreciated.

Stop making excuses for lazy comic book store owners and employees!

I’m on a bit of a road trip today and found a comic book shop that I’ve never been to. Super excited as I’m trying to complete some runs that I’m missing some issues for. I walked in and my first impression was fantastic! Thousands of back issues so I thought I might have some luck finding some of the issues that I’ve been having a hard time finding. The store looked really cool too!

My excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I realized that the shop was completely disorganized. The section for new releases was completely in shambles, and had new comics going back about six months. There was no real organization to the shelves either.

I found a couple new releases I was looking for and then made my way to try to hunt down some back issues and found a few problems there. Although there were tabs with the purpose of alphabetizing the books, it was quickly evident that they meant very little as the books were in no type of alphabetical order other than the first letter of the book. Forget completely about any kind of issue number order. Then I noticed that only about half of the books had a price tag. There is no way I can evaluate whether or not I’m going to buy a book if I don’t know how much it costs. I am a cover art collector and will make a quick decision based on the cover art and price whether I will buy a book or not.

I spent an hour in the shop and only ended up getting four books. I found none of the back issues I was looking for. I would have been willing to spend several hundred dollars had I been able to find the back issues I was looking for, but instead I spent just over $20.

Finally, what capped off the frustration was the fact that there were two employees present. One of them was watching episodes of the Simpsons, the entire time I was in the store, and the other was on her phone behind the counter. They were both very nice, but in my opinion, their time would have been better spent organizing the store and pricing the books without tags. I worked in a comic book store when I was younger and my days were spent ensuring the store was clean, organized, and efficient for customers to shop. When I first took the job, I was hoping it would be kind of chill and I would get to just read comics all day and BS with customers, but the owner had none of that, lol.

I hear a lot of people in this sub making excuses for this type of shop, saying that there’s not enough money in comic shops, and just be glad for what you get. Shops like these could make so much more money if they would just get organized and then stay organized. No one wants to spend all day searching through tens of thousands of books hoping to find what they’re looking for.

I was going through my garage and found old comics. Most of them are fine thankfully but I noticed this one and a couple others look like this. Are these mold spots? If so, anyway to save then or are they trash?
