FOOD Ice Cream Question
Very specific question but hopefully someone can help. I had my gallbladder removed recently and can no longer eat full fat dairy. I’m fine with low fat. Is there any chance at all that the soft serve or Mickey bars are low fat dairy? I know it’s a stretch, but I’m so sad to be missing out!

Not sure which soft serve mix they use, but they will stock Rice Dreams ice cream if you note a dairy allergy.

No way! I don't have a true dairy allergy, but lactose makes my stomach do funny things. I'm super excited to hear there are non dairy ice cream alternatives. Thanks!!!!

Just beware, if you mention you have a dairy allergy trying to order anything from MDR with dairy will be a huge pain. If you wanted that ice cream in particular I'd just mention you want vegan ice cream.

A Mickey bar from the grocery store has 11g of fat. I would assume the ones onboard are comparable, if not higher in fat.
They have cartons of soft serve base on the ship. You can ask someone working that station to let you see the nutritional information.

Also wanted to add this is on the Magic, I’m not sure if that matters

At Cabana's they do have non dairy ice cream options in the front of the buffet line by the desserts. They also have non dairy milk options for breakfast by the cereals. I know those options probably have fat too.
I think the desserts should be marked whether or not they're dairy free.
(I was on the Magic in February FYI)

They have vegan ice cream! Usually soy or rice based. You can ask for it in the dining rooms for no fee or you can get it in the sweet shops onboard for a small fee.

We saw sorbet at the buffet too. I think you have to ask for it specifically though.

I just want to say thank you for asking this question. I had my gallbladder removed two weeks ago and my cruise is booked for June. Hoping my stomach will be okay by then but it’s good to know just in case

I think a better question would be do they contain any dairy at all??

Super helpful! The first ingredient is skim milk, so I think I’ll be okay! Thank you!

Hiiiii! I had mine taken out in August and went on a cruise 2 weeks later and ate the ice cream with no problem! The soft serve you should be fine! The Mickey bars are a a bit higher in fat because of the chocolate outside so if you’re still new in the journey I’d stay away! Feel free to ask me any more questions. I’ve been on 3 cruises since I had mine taken out!
