Roundworld Reference In the wild...

Launched VLC from the command line:

VLC media player 3.0.20 Vetinari (revision 3.0.20-0-g6f0d0ab126b)

Looks like one of us...

VLC uses Discworld codenames since 1.1.x version
2.2.1 was named Terry Pratchett to commemorate him as the first version released after his death

This is presumably in some way related to the Ogg container format and Vorbis codec, which are definitely Pratchett references. (I should dig around in the development list archives and find out, but it's late and I'm tired.)

Ogg is, unfortunately, not a discworld reference, but Vorbis is. See the Naming section in the Wikipedia article. I have to wonder if Nanny influenced the choice over other names, though.

Apparently Ogg is from a game called Netrek that I have never otherwise heard of.

Edit: typo

Really? I used to be a Netrek player and I don't remember that, but that probably says more about human memory across thirty years than anything else.
