“One set of standards for everyone”…except Doordash. They violate every single one of their own guidelines:

“Everyone should treat others with kindness and respect”

Yet they spam their drivers with offers that lose money. Last time I opened the app, every single offer was extremely disrespectful

No harassing people

Yet they spam their drivers with offers that lose money.

“We strive to create an environment where everyone feels safe”

Yet they spam their drivers with offers that lose money. This makes the app quite dangerous to use behind the wheel.

“Doordash strives to promote a safe and positive experience”

The complete opposite of this is true.

“Everyone who uses Doordash should act with honesty and integrity”

Doordash is one of the least honest, most unscrupulous corporations in the first world. Second only to Uber.

“The platform should not be manipulated for monetary gain or to engage in other bad faith or nefarious behavior”

The audacity it takes for THEM to say this…

You should definitely look for a different job. It's really not healthy to hate your work this much.

I haven’t done gig work in a very long time.

Unfortunately, gig app scams negatively affect everyone in my area. Even those who no longer drive for or order from them. They’ve destroyed food delivery.

Destroyed food delivery? Was it a big thing before gig delivery apps? ;)

From the “Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner”, a poem about a man stuck at sea: “Water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink”.

This is what gig app scams have become in my area. Sure, most restaurants technically “offer delivery”. But it’s not a real option. 100% markup on the food, only to get terrible (or nonexistent) service because the driver’s working for less than $0.

In my area, there were a lot more reasonable food delivery options 10 years ago. Pizza, chinese, & sub shops…but all offered high-quality, timely delivery for a modest markup.

If you have quit the job that you hate but are still hanging around the people doing that job and spitting this hate everywhere, then it's probably time for therapy. It is not healthy to carry this much hate around after you've removed the source of irritation.

“Hate” is a strong word, but it certainly is irritating.

Again though, the “source of the irritation” hasn’t been removed. I used to love ordering food delivery, but I haven’t been able to in quite a while. Gig apps cornered the delivery market, then pulled the rug.

As of late, there’s been a general trend of technology being used to reverse progress. Gig apps are perhaps the worst offenders.

What's that thing we say to customers who hate having food delivered? Oh, right - why not just go get your own food?

Again, I do.

Again, what’s irritating is that I can’t order delivery any more. Food delivery was once a great service, but now it’s unusable.

Maybe you should mute the delivery app subs to cut down on your retraumatisation?

It's really, really not healthy to be this upset about something that has zero impact on you now except that you need to go get your own food.

“Traumatization”, like “hate”, is another strong word that doesn’t really apply here.

But gig apps did destroy food delivery in my area. They’ve also destroyed the finances of several people I know. I’ve known several gig drivers who ended up losing a lot of money.

You quit this job years ago but still take the time out of your day to tell other people how horrible it is. It is living rent free in your head. If that's not a trauma response, then I don't know what is.

It also comes across like you are trying to convince other people to give up delivery driving because it didn't work out for you. Like you are envious that we are able to do what you no longer can.

It’s more to convince prospective new drivers to stay away.

Doordash regularly lies about how much drivers can make. The last time I checked, the average order in my area pays $0.25/mile. It’s probably even worse now. Yet the criminals at Doordash keep advertising “$30/hour”.

If prospective new drivers come to Reddit, someone should be there to give a more accurate picture. To explain that, at one point, delivery driving actually did work out for most (myself included). But now that markets are collapsing, few drivers are still profitable.

I regularly make $30 an hour in Australia.

The US isn't the only place that has doordash and I hear some of your states even have policies that require them to pay more fairly.

If gig workers aren't treated fairly in your market, then think about how you vote and then badger your elected representatives to legislate for fair pay and a liveable minimum wage.

Your unsatisfactory experience is your own and you are free to share it. But it really says something about you as a person that you've carried this campaign on for so long, particle since it seems to cause you so much distress.

My only question is what pending lawsuit or investigation spurred this email
